Is the new Manolo free gift really a big incentive?

Are a free pen and cute pads of paper enough of an incentive to spend $600 on Manolo Blahnik shoes? Last fall Neiman Marcus offered a signed print of a Manolo sketch along with the shoes which seemed like a decent little bonus. At least you could frame it and it would look cute in a bedroom. Their latest offer, of a notepad and a leopard print pen is less of an incentive in my opinion. Not that I ever decide to buy shoes based on a free gift. Certainly if one is purchasing Manolo Blahniks the free gift is most likely incidental and a pad of paper is less likely to be the tipping point into shoe nirvana. With cosmetics, I can often be lured into a purchase by a cute little bonus bag full of trial size items but the same idea just doesn't translate to shoes.
