Stylefoul: Hilary Swank and Insolence
Filed under: CELEBRITY STYLE, Fragrance, Beauty, Celebrity, News, Makeup, Hot or Not
Yet another celebrity has been hired as "the face" of a fragrance. This time it's Hilary Swank, star of Boys Don't Cry and Million Dollar Baby, who is representing Guerlain's new perfume -- Insolence.I'm not really sure what kind of marketing Guerlain is trying to get across here. She doesn't have the most, well, feminine roles in her acting repetoire. Swank played the role of a boy in Boys Don't Cry, and a very sweaty boxer in Million Dollar Baby. Their approach? Have her dance naked in a commercial in support of the fragrance of course!
There are certainly many other celebs that are known for their feminity and you just know they would smell delightful. So what exactly does Insolence smell like?! I'm fairly positive that I don't want to know. The definition of "insolence"? An offensive disrespectful impudent act. Stay far, far away.
Note: If this fragrance does indeed smell just fine, then someone fire Guerlain's marketing team.

I disagree. I think using Hilary Swank is an excellent idea. Not only is she a classic beauty but she is beautiful without having to act falsely feminine or overly sexual. She potrays a healthy and toned body instead of many other celebrities who are sickly thin and therfore are unhealthy role models.

I too like Hilary.
BUT, I absolutely hate the name. It has no positive connotations, except maybe if you're trying to be ironic...which is really quite odd.

Hillary is a popular and well-respected actress, winning two Academy Awards for best actress just several years apart. Choosing her is a wise idea.
And as an actress, she could play any kind of part--a lesbian, an athlete, and now a sex kitten

I see Hillary as an actress. She should be able to play any kind of part--be it a lesbian, a "White trash" athlete, or a sex kitten.

I think you just have a grudge against her, Nic. You sound jealous.

WHAT A CROCK OF CRAP!JUST BECAUSE HILARY SWANK ISNT ONE OF THOSE WOMEN KNOWN ONLY FOR THEIR BOOBS OUT FILMS DOES NOT MAKE HER A BAD CHOICE.SHE HAPPENS TO BE A REAL ACTRESS AND DARN NEAR WHAT THE IDEAL WOMAN SHOULD LOOK LIKE.

This ad campaign sounds slightly nauseating to me, but in this day & age, it may just work. After all, we're living in a time where a babe like Laura Croft is popular & the Bond girls, well they're just way more wicked than they were in the 60's. I don't know if this is good thing, & if I were a man, which is a weird thought, I think that the ultra-feminine type of female would appeal to me more, but it's hard to say what's gonna fly in a perfume ad.

Apparently you haven't checked Hilary out during red carpet moments in slinky sexy backless dresses looking absolutely stunning. And if the Simpsons can be such a popular cartoon family, then "insolence" is no longer a negative adjective. In this day and age, it has the connotation of having the chutzpah you need to succeed.

I think she"s perfect for it. She's always been slightly rebellious in her choice of rolls. And She has a sexy rebellious air about her. I would like to know what it would smell like.

I agree with MYKK"s comment on Hillary. If you know anything about her past then you can understand why she's not your average "Silver Spoon Fed" Hollywoood actress. She has a "Strong" personality that is real & sincere. Unlike many stars that use their "Star Power" to get what they want, Hillary has an aura about her that enables the commonfolk to look beyond her as an icon and see that she is about as real as they come. Futhermore, and yes in my own opinion , I believe she is one of the prettiest women in Hollywood. Look beyond her masculine rolls & see her in an evening gown, I assure you that you wont be dissapointed.

What a wonderful and refreshing choice. Hillary is a classic beauty and so much more than any physical asset. She represents what is deep and inate in an individual whose character is more defined than a most other people regaardless of her gender. Like an Elizabeth Taylor. Wake up marketing teams, I want more reality in ads, not Paris Hilton.

The fragrance should sell, I think Hillary is lovely, she has the ability to be whatever she is asked to portray. What can be wrong with laughing all the way to the bank?

She may be a good choice for "Insolence" but using that particular product name might keep the 'girly-girls' away from the perfume counter. Or, if the 'girlies' bought the scent, I bet it would be only the smallest bottle since their insolence days are probably few/and/far/between.
