Martin + Osa: clothes for the aspiring grown-up

Filed under: Fashion, News, Best of the Season

American Eagle Outfitters, the retailer known for its ripped jeans and fairly immature T-shirt prints has decided to expand its boundaries and grow up, per se, with Martin + Osa. (Named after a Kansas couple who explored the world in the early 1900s.)

Michele and Charles Martin, who were also involved with expansions with Abercrombie & Fitch, are the two chief product designers. The lines they started at A&F weren't too adventurous, as they only put a small twist on the typical Abercrombie items. However, the lines were (and still are) very successful.

But the new American Eagle brand, Martin + Osa, is a complete turnaround as far as product designs and demographics go. It's looking to take over the 25- to 40-year-old market of girls and guys that are ready to look their age, but without losing their sense of cool.

The Martin + Osa website isn't too detailed quite yet, but it conveys a youthful yet professional theme (great music, too). And with what is described in this article, it sounds like just the kind of clothing I've been looking for: comfortable and stylish clothing, somewhere above American Eagle and Abercrombie, but a step below brands like Banana Republic and J. Crew.

The only locations currently open are in Dallas and Washington, D.C.
