Through frivolity, sublimity!

For any fans of The Preppy Handbook of The Hipster Handbook, the next book on your reading list should be The Affected Provincial's Companion: Volume 1 by Lord Breaulove Swells Whimsy. The is, essentially, the dandy handbook, but it is also a parody of modern man's thoughtless dress and grooming. Written by a self-proclaimed dandy from New Egypt, New Jersey, Lord Whimsy splits his time between raising orchids and nurturing a love of pocket squares. Explaining his program for a dandy revival, Whimsy (nee Victor Allen Crawford III) tackles every aspect of the life and dress of modern man through campy illustrations and over-the-top charts. While I can't exactly say this is a good primer for novices, it definitely looks like a good book for anyone who has a soft spot for Oscar Wilde.
