The hard-knock life of Anna Wintour

If you saw the film, The Devil Wears Prada, you probably have a hard time mustering sympathy for Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour. Wintour, for whom the character of Miranda Priestly (played by Meryl Streep) was based, is known for her intimidating presence and her icy demeanor. But not everything is so easy for poor Anna. For years, she has been the constant target of animal groups who oppose her use of fur in the fashion spreads on the pages of Vogue. To add to the antagonism with the animal rights movement, Wintour refuses to run advertisements paid for by anti-fur groups. As a result, she's been attacked so many times that she's "lost count." In Paris last year, she was hit by a bag of bloody matter, and later, outside the Dolce & Gabbana show, she was nailed with a pie pan full of flour. Still, through all of these assaults, Wintour remains staunchly committed to defending the use of fur in fashion. I guess this goes to show you that even in fashion, principle can be a costly thing.

Good. That's what she gets for supporting such an awful thing without any shame.
She should realize a flour pie in the face is easier to take than being kept in a cage to await anal electrocution so that her skin can be used for a highly fashionable coat.

Poor Anna, old hag that she is. It must be hell to bear the weight of the fashion world on her boney shoulders. But she does pay herself handsomely, and there will always be (women) stupid enough to hang on her every proclamation. She's probably a heavy smoker and smells awful. Poor old hag.

Poor Anna. she gets at least a couple million a year plus perks to be attacked. As for the furs....In the end I am sure...What goes around comes around. I wouldn't be surprised if one of the animals she endores gets her in the end. How awlful to think a poor helpless, defensless mink, rabbit, etc is being used to help her make those big bucks. But she'll get hers.

I am glad to see that so far all who have posted here like throwing stones. I am sure that all of you have careers or jobs and have worked very hard to get to where you are, would you like someone to try and disscredit you? Anna has worked very hard to get to where she is at, and in the fashion business you have to be very good at what you do know matter how high on the ladder you are. There are two catagories of animals in my book the kind we raise to eat and the byproducts those animals give us as well medicine being one of the many byproducts. The second kind of animal is the animal we raise for their fur or pelt. Those animals if you look close are considered rodents, and we still get byproducts, but their meat is no good, except for rabbit. The thing is you really can't fault a person for standing up for what they believe in you may disagree, as I am sure there are those that disagree with you, the last time I checked we still live in America. I would say way to go Anna. John Wayne would be proud.

It will be a great day when the world starts caring more for people than animals. It amazes me that someone can be so passionate about abuse to animals and not cry out loudly about cruely and abuse of children, women and millions of the poor peoples of the world. Lets save the people first, then the animals. Not to say that we can't do both at the same time but come on.

have any of you noticed how anti fur ppl tend to live in places over populated by humans? they'd rather live there then go live and work on the farms/homes of the "poor animals" they so deseperately want to help. the animals could care less about you! if you got out of big cities and actually made a living off saving animals you'd realize that some fur here and there isn't hurting anyone. b/c if we didn't kill the bastards they'd over run us! yes, humans have crept into animal territory with their constant expansion and wish to be "away from it all" BUT, there are animals that COME TO THE HUMANS. why? a free meal! freaking freeloaders need to be controled. but you wouldn't know that b/c from your high rise penthouse loft all you see is more of the city. get out of there sometime! then you'd realize the animals aren't so poor and defenseless after all.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I do believe God killed an animal in the Garden of Eden to cover Adam's nakedness, ie. expose what was going on inside his heart. As some one said earlier, "No One can throw a stone." There is something in your lives that is equally as bad as using animals for clothing. Even at the sake of it being fashion. Personally I prefer real leather shoes as apposed to fact rubber look alike. It's practical, it last longer. Maybe we should take the oil from the earth to run our cars. After all, it was put there for a purpose, and it has to have some effect on the earth. Doesn't anyone know animals don't have a soul? They live by conditioned response. You love them and feed them, they love you back, period. But, if they were hungry, they would kill you for warmth and food. Go visit a chicken farm, then don't eat the whole piece of chicken, throw it away, or steak, or anything you throw in the trash that is an animal. You should be made to eat the entire portion, if you are going to bitch about killing an animal for any other reason than to eat. What's in a dog or cat food can? Sweep off your own porch, before you start inspecting others.
