We saw finger tips that reminded us of Marilyn Manson on the likes of Lindsay Lohan, then heard that Sarah Michelle Gellar went so far as swiping bottles of Chanel nail polish during New York's Fashion Week. What is it with black nail polish? Personally, I think black nail polish makes your fingertips looks bruised, your hands dirty, and in the end, it's just plain ugly. But for some reason, it is all the rage, and Chanel's Black Satin nail polish is very very difficult -- practically impossible -- to get a hold of here in the US. New York Magazine has a brief history of black nail polish through the years, but that certainly doesn't explain why the quest for goth-like fingertips have suddenly made the price of Chanel's Black Satin shoot up from the usual $18 a bottle to $150 on places like eBay.
