Dove's evolution of beauty campaign
Many of you are familiar with the Dove advertising campaign promoting "Real Beauty" in television commercials and print advertisements. But now Dove has joined a number of other companies in the video "viral" marketing medium by producing a short film for YouTube. The film is called "Evolution Beauty" and I think it's well worth watching. It certainly puts the modeling industry in perspective.

This is what is done for all celebritys, but young girls, boys and older men think these women just get up and look like that.

It's almost criminal what the advertising media does to young girls with this sort of manipulation for profit.

Wow, I always knew photos were airbrushed to perfection, but actually seeing it is another thing. Everyone should watch this, this is real life!

Have you seen Katherine Zeta-Jones ads? She's totally airbrushed to look like she's 15.

Wow! I was stunned. I thought the girl was pretty enough, I wonder how she felt once she viewed her picture? Was she just a template for the ad? Makes me look at the modeling world with a new perspective. I would love to see more examples like this.

The tag lines are hilarious, suggesting self-esteem comes from the outside in courtesy of soap or that our "perception" is off kilter. Like Renaissance artists, contemporary creators of beauty take a great looking woman and elevate her by their "magic" into the realm of beauty-saint, rising above the mundane car lot to intensify and clarify the lives of those who pass by.

Yo people the deception of the world is now shown to us in the purest form so the next time you look at yourself by happy and know that you are real.

As a working NY model I can tell you that no one gets that kind of
makeover post shoot. In fact, very few 'girls' are even airbrushed
unless it's specifically for a cosmetic ad..
Clients have a wide range of models to choose from and usually
don't want, need or have the time to go into 'transforming' someone.
There are plenty of girls that have beautiful proportions, great skin, teeth, hair and look just as good without a total makeover.
The Dove commercial is bogus.

Wow. You hear about air brushing but don't take the time to really think about it being done regularly.
So actually, and sadly, we (women) are all trying hard, to look like someone, who doesn't even look like themselves any more.
whew.

amen! its about time that some one in the corporate world has stood up for real beauty! i know that its an old mother saying that beauty is more than skin deep and that its on the inside that truly matters, and its really sad that its just now reaching mainstream society! however, i am proud that some one is taking a stand! lets end this self esteem war and empower our people!!!!!

I'm glad someone has finally shone a light into this dark corner of the modeling industry. I modeled as a teenager, and can tell you that every model/actress is touched up in some way. They now have the technology to do the same thing to actresses on film & television, a frame by frame touch up. It's time we taught young women to value themselves for who they are, & stop expecting them to conform to an image that does not even exist (as we saw in this film) To quote an ad campaign I once did, What makes you different, makes you beautiful
