With a widely publicized media unveiling scheduled for November 18, Former Philippine first lady Imelda Marcos will launch "The Imelda Collection" of jewelry and accessories. Marcos is probably the world's best known shoe horse, but the new fashion line will not include shoes, at least not immediately.

To me, Imelda Marcos is a controversial figure, so naturally, I have mixed feelings about "The Imelda Collection." Don't get me wrong -- I like pretty things as much as the next girl, but I just don't think the way that she dashed about expensive New York stores during her husband's dictatorial rule is exactly admirable.

Then again, if Marie Antoinette gets a second chance, maybe Imelda Marcos deserves one too.
