Outdoors clothing that's outdoors-friendly

Filed under: Fashion, Best of the Season, Stylish Living

I hate getting the newest clothing catalog in the mail. Yesterday I got Patagonia's winter issue, and I've now added at least 10 more things to my Christmas wish list. Patagonia is an outdoors clothing company, and is a company that doesn't just pretend to make durable and reliable outerwear.

Their gear is perfect for the bleak winter days ahead, and I don't know how many of you ever go camping, but Patagonia gear is sure to hold its own if you're ever stranded on a mountain (or just hiking, skiing, whatever it may be).

And not only does Patagonia make quality products, they're also pretty darn environmentally friendly. They donate 1% of their sales to preserving and restoring the natural environment, while also recycling used clothing.

Check out a couple of the things on my current list from Patagonia: Cashmere full-zip hooded sweatshirt -- $290 and the Eco Torrentshell jacket -- $185.

While Patagonia apparel isn't exactly cheap, it's high-quality and you can feel good knowing that at least part of the purchase price is going towards a worthy cause. But now that I think about it, with such steep prices -- I'd say they should be donating more along the lines of 15% of all sales to environmental restoration!
