The world's largest hairstyle
Filed under: Hair Care, Hair, News
Earlier this week, a team of hairstylists in Brazil created the world's largest hairstyle on the head of Peruvian actress Susan Leon. At over six feet tall and three feet wide, the hairstyle was so large that has been entered into the Guinness Book of World Records. With a team of assistants, ten kilograms of hair extensions, five cans of hairspray, a liter of dye and 3,000 hair clips, the monstrous coiffure took almost two weeks to complete. Lead stylist Imparo Jara said the style was "inspired by Madame Recamier [celebrated 19th-century Frenchwoman], who was like Madame Pompadour [courtesan and mistress of King Louis XV of France] who lived in the 17th century."I'm wondering how long it took to get Leon's hair back to normal.

It shouldn't count. It isn't her OWN real hair!

No redeeming social value in this whatsoever

as someone who loves big hair, this thing sucks. And yes, it shouldn't count, it's not her real hair. I think I've used 5 cans of hairspray on my own hair anyway. That's what counts!

Notice that it says world's largest hairstyle - nothing about longest hair. I think it is a waste of time and effort - but if they are willing to go through the effort so be it.

Everyone needs something to do...for good or for bad. If that's what they feel the need to do (bust records with fake or real hair), then more power to them! My hats off and hair go out to them.

I'm sure it was a "hair raising" experience for these people, but come on!
I feel it's completely bogus to enter this into the GWBR simply because it's not her real hair. Seems to be more of a publicity stunt for Susan than a valid attempt at breaking a world record. Overall, I think the GWBR judges were about as stupid as the hair stylists (if that's what you want to call them).

Yeah I agree with everyone, not real hair!!!! FAKE...... should never be put in the books!! I'm a hairstylist too and love to create but this is a little much.( I'm sure it only lasted until they took the pic, and off the hair came)

Will she have headache for 2 weeks from the weight on her head & the fumes from the hairspray? 2 weeks could they stand in line and feed the homeless? I understand they have competitions but 2 weeks that just plain down right stupid! How long did it take them to get all that hairspray out of her hair ouch!

Like who cares?? With all that's going on in the world and especially right here in our own back yard, there must be something better to get all ruffled about.

What's the big deal?? It not even her REAL hair. And by the way, who cares if it was. There are more important issues to address. By the way how did she sleep? Poor thing.

I have no problems with hair stylists ( heck, I go to one every 7 weeks!) but unfortunately there still exists hordes of people whose lives revolve around the silly and the useless ways of celebrities. If ( as Andy Warhol proclaimed) they look for their 15 minutes of fame this way, then think about the time( and $$$) they have squandered. And they look foolish too. So sad....
