If shoppin' Juniors is wrong, I don't wanna be right

I am a 25-year-old woman with a job, a home and a 401K. Having said all of that, I still can't keep my greedy hands out of the Juniors department at Target. The stuff is really cute, really cheap, and it fits me. Why should I deny myself? For obvious reasons, I feel guilty about this habit. When I buy Juniors, something inside tells me that there's a nice 15-year-old girl out there who will have to go without that plucky little dress because I'm older, faster and have more disposable income.
But that's just your tough luck, sweetie, because I've got my eye on the Fire Satin-Pleated Bodice Dress($29.99). Put this satin-pleated dress on a real body (not some stick-figure model with no boobs) and it would be -- to quote Tyra Banks -- totally fierce.
Didn't someone once say that being savvy with money is a sign of maturity?

You're kidding. After scouring Target and the rest of the web for something cute and affordable, I bought that dress for $56 at Nordstrom. And now it's at Target for nearly half that?! Oh well. I will warn you, though, that while getting it on over the head isn't too hard, it takes some effort to get it off--and I am a stick-figure type.

I'm 46 and often shop in Juniors at Target. I don't wear the kind of clothes that would make someone say "she's trying to look 20", but the jeans and tees fit me better, and some of the clothing for Misses look matronly.

I feel the exact same way! I'm 25 and I love Target! And I just ordered 5 dresses from Forever 21. I definitely feel more mature than the crowd that shops at these places, but I say we can buy what we want as long as we're still cute enough to wear it. The Misses section is just too buttoned up!

I am a 30 yr old woman, and I ONLY shop in Jrs. Departments. The Misses clothes are always too big for me so I have no other choice. Not that I mind though, because I agree that a lot of the Misses apparel looks matronly. My 54 yr old mother also shops in the Jrs. section much of the time. Thanks to genetics she puts most of the teens Ive seen to shame, even at her age! As long as you arent trying to look like your 18 again, I dont see any problem with wearing what looks and makes you feel good no matter what department its from.

I am 32 and have never stepped foot inside the Misses Department. I glance over there, and think "how sad" but I am way too excited to get to the little french skirts and glitter tees in the Junior section to get too upset for the people who buy those ugly old lady clothes. Clothing designers need to take a hint! The world has changed, 25 no longer means june cleaver, nor does it mean "huge". The clothes for "grown ups" are gigantic, baggy in a 'oh my goodness you must hide your body" kind of way. Ewwww!!!!
On a slightly different but really the same note, if those who make the decisions were really smart, they would make the same adorable little girl shoes in adult sizes. I must say I weep everytime I go by a kids shoe section....why oh why can't these come in a size 8????
Shop Juniors? Til Death!!

I am a 48 year young person, I have two grown children & two grandchildren. My daughter & I both shop the juniors departments together. I am not ready to wear the matronly clothes in the misses departments & the juniors clothing fits my size & personality much better. There is nothing wrong with wearing juniors clothes at any age as long as they fit & the style is not childish.

Except for the Mossimo line in Target, I don't like the clothes in the Juniors departemnt. Most of the clothes are made of synthetics and the sewing is shameful and the style is just not very classy. June Cleaver was a classy character. Would have loved to see her in a board room. The Juniors dept is for teens and should be more modest. Teens are still girls not women. It is extremely disappointing to see clothes that push the "sex symbol" mentality on these young minds. It feeds on the "appearance is everything". Remember that beauty fades. Make sure something is behind that pretty face.

I was on your side until the last bit. I'm 18 (could pass for 15), and I'm flat-chested. That doesn't make me any less of a female than you, thank you very much. My body is just as "real" as anyone else's. I think you need to look into Dove's Campaign For Real Beauty. Perhaps they can teach you a thing or two.
By the way, the dress isn't even cute.

I think it's kind of embarrassing that adults are scouring the Juniors department for clothes. Grow up. If you want a more modern look - then shop in Hollister, Diesel, Old Navy, Gap, A&F or any one of a hundred other stores to choose from, where you can get well made clothes for a decent price that will look good on you. I'm sure you look like a jackass in your children's clothes. Get a grip, ladies. You can't be little princesses forever.

As long as the clothes fit and you don't look ridiculous, why does it matter which department you shop in? Just because you're a grandmother doesn't mean you always have to look like a stereotypical grandmother.
