Why won't Uggs die?
In a New York Post article from earlier this week, Danica Lo made a surprising observation: Uggs are still hugely popular. Bloomingdale's, for instance, is completely sold out. They aren't even taking orders since they don't know when the fuzzy Australian boots will be back in stock. To add to that, online retailer Zappos.com isn't even shipping until February 19, 2007. For the most part, fashion-phenomenons have a shelf life of around 18 months. Take Sarah Jessica Parker's trendy flower pin of 2000 -- totally dissolved once Season Four of Sex and the City aired.
So this leads me to wonder why this trend hasn't died yet. Ugg boots have been around since 2003. Three years of near ubiquity makes it seem like the big, bulky, woolly boots have gone from mere flash-in-the-pan status to that of a classic, like the Burberry trench coat or the Chanel suit.
What do you think? Have Uggs crossed over?

I thinking they won't die. I don't have a pair and was actually thinking about finally getting some since they seem to withstanding the test of time.
I'm in a very wintry climate and I think women here like the easy and coziness too much to give them up now. But they have more the classic staying power of Sportos and Barn Coats than trenches I'd say.

I love UGGS! I could wear them year round living in Ohio. I get cold easy, especially my extremities and these are the warmest and most comfortable, roomy boots that I have ever found. I've tried all sorts of different ones that were suppose to be thermalite...lol...and you can really wear UGGS without socks and stay warm in the winter. I say UGGS Forever! They make clogs to wear in the summer too, slippers around the house, short boots, mid boots and mid calf high. I get compliments everywhere I go on my purple boots. I'd love to have them all. The slippers would make great gifts for Christmas and they are reasonably priced.

Actually Uggs have been around for a lot longer than 2003, but they didn't become popular since then.If you ever owned a pair you would understand why they wont die, it's not just fashion it's comfort.... They are like heaven for your feet!

Uggs are popular but they are not cheap. This is why they have not yet "peaked." Not everyone knows about them because not everyone can get them -- It is not like a PS III that can be sold on Ebay for a majillion dollars this week and won't be worth a plug nickle by spring. Until Uggs are available for under 50 bucks at KMart -- They'll remain a thing of mystery.

I just saw Uggs at Marshalls for 49.99 a pair, they are reasonable for what you get.

I Love my UGGs. Most comfortable and warm boots ever owned. I live in California where it doesn't get as cold as the east coast. They have been around longer than 2003. I remember people wearing them in the 90's. I thought they were called UGGs because they were ugly.

I've had my Uggs for 2 years now - comfortable does not even begin to describe them. Once you've tried them, you are hooked! I now have 2 Ugg pocketbooks and an Ugg cell phone holder. Over the top? Of course, that's half the fun.

I have uggs in every color and style and I wear them all the time. They are pretty much in style but that's not the only reason people wear them as in many other cases. Uggs are the most comfortable thing to wear on your feet that I've ever had and I'm sure for a lot of other people too. They also have so many colors that you can match them witha any outfit and you can wear them during any season pretty much. I got my first pair in 2001 and I've been hooked ever since. I usually don't care about the prices I just get them but I've stopped since I have them all now.

Usually my feet are cold. I live in Memphis and even with the
temperate climate, a pair of Uggs would be great. Maybe
one day I can get a pair.

I received my first pair of Uggs over a decade ago. They are still wear worthy and I still love them! Why should they go out of style? What other shoe can we slip our barefeet into and have such a warmth? LONG LIVE UGGS!! :)

Don't they make those for guys, too? If they don't, it's no fair.

I just bought a pair of Uggs to go to Kentucky for the Christmas holidays. Now I can see why women love them. They are so comfortable! I've even worn them around Phoenix a little just to try them out and they aren't too warm for our crisp winter days.

I'm sorry, it was a stupid question and it got by my boss. Why SHOULD uggs die? They keep your feet warm and have a simple classic design. DUH! Um, I've just been informed that TMZ wants me on thier staff. Gotta go. Ciao.

I wear UGGS everyday and have about 14 pairs in all colors. I live in Southern California and I wear them in the summer, too, because they aren't hot, just comfy.

Uggs will never die.
Alot of imitatations out there but everyone can tell the Real Thing from the wannabe's. Wish I could get my hands on some of the unique colored Uggs but they are sold out most of the time.
Best time to buy them is in September.

I got my first pair when I first came to Denver. Nothing worked to keep my feet from being cold until I tried these. I change the liners every year and I have never been cold. I wear them to the ski areas and just around town. When they got looking shabby I got brown shoe dye and spruced them right back up. I couldn't care less if people think they are ugly. My feet are warm and I bet theirs are cold in their stylish shoes. We're expecting a big storm tonight and yep I'll be out there tomorrow with the snow blower in my uggs.
