Seven Days of Style: Smart SPF

So now that you've decided on where to go for your much deserved winter getaway, it's time to start packing. If you're off to the islands, you'll pack light, and if you're trekking up a mountain, you'll be packing a a little more. In either case, though, don't forget protection! That's right, whether Aruba or Aspen, the sun is going to be strong. To help make sure that you do a little now (sunscreen) to prevent having to do a lot later (Dr. 90210), Styledash has seven days of suncare.
Sunday, Sunscreen on Your Face - We've said it before, and we aren't shy about saying it again. And again. And again. You must wear sunscreen. It seems counter-intuitive to wear sunscreen when you're going to play in the snow, but honey, it's twice as strong out there in the mountains, since you're at a higher elevation and the sun's sparkling rays hit you not only from above, but reflect off the snow underneath. A lot of moisturizers out there have a sibling with SPF. Juice Beauty's Green Apple Moisturizer is not only sun-protective, but all of Juice Beauty's products are 100% certified organic.
Monday, Make the Most of Your Foundation - Don't forget that you can go double, even triple protection out there with the makeup you use. Clinique's City Base Compact Foundation goes on creamy, finished powdery, and provides a physical barrier from the elements, as well as SPF 15.
Tuesday, Triple Protection Powder - Lots of compact powders have sun-protection, in varying degrees of SPF. Stila's Illuminating Powder is a velvety powder that has an SPF of 12. It doesn't sound like much, but don't forget that you're wearing that on top of a moisturizer and foundation that both have SPF, too.
Wednesday, Watch the Lips - If there's one place a lot of people forget, it's the lips. Almost every lip balm out there has at least SPF 15, but we know you've got to sparkle out there in the snow! Biotherm's Sunfitness Crystal Gloss provides SPF 15 and the shine that you want.
Thursday, Thorough Coverage for the Body - If you actually are going to be active on your vacation, try Coppertone Sport. It's SPF 30, water- and sweat-proof so it has some staying power, and the little caribiner means you can attach it to your bag for easy access all day long. $4.99 at Drugstore.com.
Friday, Physical Barrier, Sunglasses - Oversized sunglasses, the kind with lenses that rival CDs in diameter, are almost comical, but when you know you're going to be out in the sun for extended periods of time, these oversized sunglasses actually do some good. Marc Jacobs' Rimless Logo sunglasses have both the large lenses, as well as fairly wide legs that keep your temples covered. At Neiman Marcus, the sunglasses are $90.
Saturday, Silken Locks - The best way I know of to protect your gorgeous mane from the damaging, drying effects of the sun are to tuck all your lovely locks under a hat. However, I know how much work you put into getting those perfect waves, so instead, use Bobbi Brown's Beach Leave-In Conditioner, which has an SPF of 15. At Nordstrom, the Leave-in conditioner is $15 for 1.7 oz.
