Dress of the Day: James Perse Long Sleeve Empire Dress
Filed under: Fashion, Best of the Season, Designers & Brands
I'd like to take a moment to appreciate the person, the designer, the culture, whomever it was, who "invented" the empire waistline. Thanks to the waistline that gathers around the bottom of the bustline, high above the natural waistline, we ladies can breathe a little easier.Whoever you are, thank you.
And thanks to James Perse for the Long Sleeve Empire Dress is a super-soft jersey material. The deep V neckline plunges to the empire waist, which is embellished with a contrast drawstring. Both the yoke and the ruching on the back of the dress contrast as well. The dress comes in a neautral color called Navajo, perfect as a backdrop for a pair of boots in a kick-start color.
The dress is $212 at ShopBop.

It looks alittle bit plain to me, mabye it is the particular model, but it looks very simple and dull.

James Perse is pure genius. His clothes are made of the softest ,most comfortable fabrics I have ever come across. They are easy to care for and so versitile. I agree this dress should be a staple in every womans closet.

The dress is Blah Blah Blah, No color no splash and the model chosen to display it is slumped over and looks like she hasn't yet had her coffee. The dress with the right accessories, & color could be cute and comfy for a casual occassion and with a Walmart clearance sale price tag I might buy it. Maybe? But the advertising and layout used to promote the dress yuck.
