We want YOU for the bra strap police
Margarita Reis, who runs the bra company Margarita Couture, is encouraging fashion followers to keep their eyes peeled for bra straps during this red carpet season. She wants any sightings of "ugly bra strap syndrome" to be reported immediately to the Strap Police.According to Reis, because of the wide variety of more attractive bra straps, there's no excuse to let that worn old thing peek out from under your high-dollar evening gown.
Not surprisingly, Margarita Couture sells products that can help you with your ugly strap problem. "We've created an industry that addresses what has been a really big problem in the workplace, at cocktail parties, because many women had not had the option to get straps to match their outfit," said Reis.
I'm not sure I'd classify this as a really big problem, and -- as far as I've noticed -- women who dress well seem to take this into account. But I certainly could be wrong. And if I am, you can report any offenders to the Strap Police at Ms. Reis' website.

Finally!! Let's address these women out there, especially the teenagers, who think it is ok to wear a halter top with a regular bra (OF A DIFFERENT COLOR or DIRTY!!) All those fashionistas out there need to show these young people the RIGHT way to look when they go out. Too many of them wear jeans on the hip with a humonguous fat roll hanging over the jeans waist. What about the back of the bra ABOVE the shirt? Incredible!!

Oh sure, bra straps are a REALLY big problem... Good Grief!
Maybe to stuck-up self absorbed socialites with nothing else in their heads. Next time you need a new bra... spend $10 at target and send the $60+ you would have spent somewhere else to the foundation that installs pumps and wells in African villages.
Big problem.. sheesh!

I cannot believe that people let their underwear of any kind show. I was brought up in the south, a lady does not show off underwear at any time. Bra straps are the ugliest things I have ever seen. I don't care if they are gold. You don't show straps. Thats why they make strapless bras. That's like going without hose in the wintertime with white chalky legs with dry skin. You just don't do it.

Hey LN...I have a better idea. Why don't you just skip the bra...have breasts that hang to your knees..then go to Africa? Just a thought? :-P

I shop at Victoria's Secret for my bras- they're comfortable, elegant, long-lasting, and lovely. My boyfriend loves the way I look now, even under a plain t-shirt, and even my mother has commented on how "happy" my girls look (I'm trying to get her converted to the shaped bras Lane Bryant carries, because the bras she gets out of a box are quite sad after about five years). I believe that if you are going to wear something for several years, every day of your life, for an average of probably ten hours, it should be something presentable and decent, if nothing else.
I suppose if you're not very busty, then your bras don't take much of a beating, and a cheap one from Walmart or Target can last you just as long as any other kind...but some women actually have tits, and need some more support. If you're one of those women, you either go through cheap bras like water, or you purchase a few good ones and they last...OR you end up saggier than your great grandmother, and may as well just consider your hanging baskets another roll of your stomach.
I've spent $110 all together on the three Victoria's Secret bras I own, and they are much better than the cheap bras I've previously owned, which probably totalled up to $75 for maybe 5-6 bras and maybe 2-3 years. You get what you pay for- my VS bras have survived twice as long...and the bra straps are still as clean, satiny, and lovely as the day I bought the bras.
Bras and fashion are not big problems, but looking decent is not a bad habit to get into. Even Mother Theresa looked like an angel.

umm, im young and frankly, the younger generation dosent really care about bra straps, just as long as you have a bra ON. im not saying that you should go out of your way to show off your bra or anything, but arent there more important things we should be worrying about?

It doesn't matter if your bra comes from vickie's or target. It's all about the proper fit, and washing it correctly, and getting new ones every 6 months to a year.
Dont knock target bras... their the same as from victorias secret. And no offense to vickie's, but their bras are pricey, and if you have large breasts its hard to find anything without padding, or thats not a demi bra, or a push up bra, etc.
Young girls/women need to get professionally measured for a bra... you can do it at nordstroms, or at a bra sprecialty place. Half the women in america are wearing the wrong size. Too big around the back, and not big enough in the cup.
Bra's should be functional. Of course, everyone should have that one racy, lacy, sexy, va va voom bra for a special night, but let's get real here.
I need a bra that has an underwire to support my girls, and one that looks shapely and beautiful under my clothes.
You dont put underwire bras in the washing machine or dryer- you hand wash them and hang them to dry.
If you have large breasts you need to update your bras on a regular basis, cause after a while they lose their support.
Sorry for the rant- but whoever commented about owning victorias secret bra's is best... I completely disagree. The brand has nothing to do with it.
As far as straps showing outside your clothing-- IT'S NOT HOT. Nor are thongs hanging out of pants.
ugh. get some class people.

Really. Is this all you have to write articles about. Bra or no bra, visible straps or not who really cares. There are so many other problems in the world and someone is fixated on women's breasts. How sad.

I agree with the comments that women should not be showing off their bra straps, whether they are pretty straps or straps that match your outfit. It just looks like you don't care about your image enough to keep your straps under your shirt. I don't spend a lot of money on my bras...because no one but my hubbie ever sees them. Occassionally, when my straps don't seem to want to stay under my shirt, I use the Privacy Strips to keep them in place. I wish the younger generation carried about this sort of image issues a bit more. But, sadly, its up to the famous people in our society, those whom the younger generation admire and emulate, to protray such an image. Only then, will the younger generation think its "cool" to keep your bras under your shirts!

I am 17, and i think the girls in my generation are disgusting! (some of them) I don't know if is how my mom taught me, but the only time my bra shows, is when i wear a spaghetti strap shirt, and my bra color matches my shirt! I think it is very shameful how girls my age walk around with their stomach hanging out one end, a thong hanging out the back, and their boobs/bra hanging out the top! It is very disgraceful!

Women care about fashion do's and don't, and what clothes other women are wearing. Men--straight ones anyway--care alot more about what's inside the clothes.

If you have a good enough figure to wear a halter or tank top, why bother to wear a bra? The original intent of tanks and halters was to exhibit independence from "fashion police" by showing body acceptance and pride in one's own body. If you're gonna wear a tank or halter, then toss the bras in the trash. - - MK
