Could Kate get dumped by Rimmel?
Filed under: Fashion, Beauty, Makeup, Runway Report
Kate Moss is not exactly hurting for modeling contracts. With more than 14 advertising campaigns at the moment, she is arguably as hot a commodity as ever. But rumors having been flying around London that Moss might lose out on her Rimmel cosmetics contract due to her age. At 33, she's fresh-faced and youthful, but she's still no modeling spring chicken. According to News of the World newspaper a source said, "age catches up with everyone, even Kate. But she hasn't been told anything by Rimmel." If the rumors are true, I'm sure it will be a hard blow for Moss who is already quite sensitive about her age. Hopefully she keep things in perspective, especially since she has had a 20-year career in an industry where most woman have a shelf life of five to seven. We'll be sure to keep you updated as this story unfolds.

I'm sorry but I thought she should've got the boot due to her cocaine addiction, not her age. The industry is condoning this behavior and even encouraging it by not giving her the boot. I guess I'd have to be British to understand the hype on Kate.

Yes, Helena, not only the drug addictions, but the fact that young women and young girls try to emulate her and she knows it. And with that loser for a boyfriend? She couldn't be a little choosier? I don't know, maybe you're right, maybe there's something we're missing. There's something to be said for moral issues in any (real) job. I'm not saying she should've gotten the boot because of the boyfriend, but definitely the drugs if she didn't complete drug counseling, and more importantly **stayed clean.** Has she been drug-tested lately? Hmmm... Many employers in the real world can't fire you if you seek help, but she's got other issues that most real-world employers want no part of, and would fire the average joe/jane over. Guess she doesn't fit that 'average jane' description.

Kate Moss is one of the beautiful models in the world, and the fashion industry needs to realize that the average life expectancy for women is well beyond age 30.

Please! Nobody cares that Kate Moss is in her 30's. I suppose she is beautiful, although I never understood the fascination with her. What I do care about is the message advertisers are sending by choosing a cocaine addict as their representative, regardless of whether or not she is 33 or 40 or any other age deemed "no modeling spring chicken". Sure, tons of people have drug problems. Some are working through them by getting help. But people like Kate Moss, who are in the spotlight and a celebrity of sorts, should be more responsible when so many young people are out there aspiring to be like her. There are a ton of women out there, (in their 30's even!) who deserve to be in her position who don't abuse drugs or have their faces plastered on tabloid magazines with a straw up their nose, readily available to any teenager in any grocery store in America with dreams of modeling. Kate Moss should count her blessings people have been either forgiving or have turned the other cheek to her indiscretions.

I'm with Helena. What does that say about society? They'll fire her over her age, buy NOT over her drug problem? NOT a ringing endorsement for modeling industry.

I think it's a bad move for Rimmel if they fire her for any reason, after all she is a great example on how make up transforms a plain face into a supermodel. Have somebody seen her with no make up on? Not talking about her blody which is just regular like any other white skinny girl, with no boobs or curves. By the way, what is the secret about this "supermodel"? the british accent? There are ubermodels all over the world who are wayyyyyyy better looking than her, and on top of that SHE'S IS DRUG ADDICTED! A model of what, bad behavior?

Forget the age. She's just another drunk who uses hard drugs every chance she can. Kick her filthy ass to the curb.

Kate Moss DID lose her celebrity status when she was found out about her drug use. All of her campaigners let go of her or didn't renew contracts. After she completed a stint in rehab and made it clear to her long time boyfriend that it was NOT okay to use drugs, whether recreationally or not (giving him an ultimatem), then she started gaining all of her ads back.

I can't believe this is even making headlines. What I never understood in the first place is how this woman is even called beautiful?! And her boyfriend is even more disgusting. She's too skinny and her face is not beautiful. If she was sitting right in front of me I would think that she was scary looking. We live in a world where the media over-hypes people and brainwashes people to think that woman such as Kate Moss, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Scarlett Johannsen are drop dead gorgeous......what ever happened to real beauty such as Cindy Crawford or Nikki Taylor?

CAN YOU SAY '' SNORT '', WHAT BLOODY KIND OF MESSAGE IS MOSS SENDING OUT TO THE FUTURE MODELS,, AND YOUNG GIRLS WHO LOOK UP TO THIS WOMAN. NOT A GOOD ONE IF YOU ASK ME. THEY ARE TRULY SAYING IT IS OK TO GO OUT TO BE A MODEL, AND YEAH IT IS OK FOR YOU TO USE COCOAINE IF YA LIKE. I BELIEVE THAT MODELING AGENCIES SHOULD WHEN WRTING UP A CONTRACT THAT IT SHOULD SAY... FIRST SIGNS OF USING COCAINE YOU ARE NO LONGER WITH THE COMPANY. GET RID OF EM AND LET SOMEONE NEW TAKE THEIR PLACE, AND ONE WHO DESERVES IT. I DO NOT CARE HOW LONG MOSS HAS BEEN MODELING,,, TIME FOR A NEW FRESH FACE FOR RIMMEL..... OUT WITH THE OLD, YEAH I SAID OLD MS MOSS, AND IN WITH THE YOUNG..... TIME FOR A NEW ROLE MODEL RIMMEL.... WAKE UP AND GET LOOKING.........
