Are cats the new must-have accessory?
Last week Elise noted the trend of dogs as accessories. But now it seems that trend may already be shifting...to cats. While the guy in the photo looks very cool, I see some practical problems with this. Namely, cats suck. They don't like to be held, they scratch, and they'll pee on you if you don't succumb to their evil plans for world domination. Seriously -- can you imagine trying to take a cat on a night out? Is there any way the two of you would make it home in one piece?
My proposed solution: stuffed cats. Get the look without the hassle. Go the child's toy route if you're into being cutesy, and, for the especially adventurous, stop into your local taxidermist to check out the selection. I dare you.

How sad it is to have an animal as a fashion accessory. They are precious animals and are your pets. Not something to use an accessory to go with every outfit you have. That means you Paris !!!!
They may be pampered beyond your wildest dreams, but they are animals just the same and should be treated as pets. Not your latest fashion accessory. If your going to have a pet, then treat it like one, and take responsiblility for it and take care of it at home. No nannies, no animal sitters, no therapists. Just you, and your loving pet.

Who ever wrote this commentary has no real life and is an asshole! Cat don't suck, people do! Those people who think that animals are little trinkettes to take out and look fashionable with need the help of mental professionals!

Jonathon, what a pathetic person you are. Cats have grace, intelligence, humor and are interesting. You aren't.

It's unfortunate when articles about cats are written by a person who hates cats and obviously knows very little about them. That's like having a book about Black History Month written by a KKK member. This drastically hurts the integrity of both the article and its writer.

Cats were at one time worshiped as Gods by the Egyptians and they have never forgotten it. And you will pay in the afterlife for your hatefull speaking of them!

How dare you say those insults about cats? They are so much better than dogs. Anyway, neither should be used as an accessory. Pets should be treated with kindness and love, not toted around like a handbag. Shame on those who use them in a harsh manner.

I think I agree a bit with all of you...i love cats, have two of my own, and while I don't think ANY pets should be used as fashion accessories, nor do I think that cats are evil, I do agree with the underlying idea of this article. While dogs want to be held as often as possible and don't mind being carried all over town, cats HATE being picked up. If they climb onto your lap, its one thing, but I can't imagine trying to take my cats up the stairs, let alone out the door.

My beautiful long haired grey cat Shadow has travelled to California with me & back. Sans problems. He is loyal and true. I, have taught him words.I started with sign language and lightly touching his nose saying: "no". I, extinguished this and Voila! He responds to NO. Stops on a dime whatever he is doing that what is not quite good for the furniture. He is a great car companion. He has comforted people in Hospice, and beguiled children I, have taught. Goldy has three legs; a rescue no one would even pet. He showed great empathy to My mom during her breast surgery. So think about it...Animals don't go to war. They don't invade countries. They don't steal. They don't lie. They don't break up marriages. They are truly God's nicest creatures. Trust Me-ow.
