Jennifer Hudson's Vogue cover: Fun with Photoshop?
Vogue is notoriously skittish about putting overly curvy women on its cover, so I was pleasantly surprised to hear that Jennifer Hudson would be gracing the cover of the March issue. And then I wondered just how Anna Wintour and her teeny-tiny goddesses of style would arrange Hudson's generous proportions. The answer was revealed with a peek at the cover.Gawker says Photoshop, but I say this is mainly a camera issue, the standard trick of having the things you want to appear smaller placed as far away from the lens as possible. I'm sure Annie Leibovitz had an eye toward thinness in composing this shot and the other pics. All around the web, controversy is swirling over the shots, possible airbrushing and whether Jennifer Hudson even "belongs" on the cover of Vogue. She's a babe but I think that just about every red carpet photo I have seen of her is more flattering than this shot.

Sorry, you got it wromg! Hudson's star power resides almost entirely in the sexiest, toothiest grin to come along since....I don't know who. It's all about her energy and when she opens that big mouth to sing....no one since Streisand has had that impact! I think Liebowitz got it exactly right.

i believe you have it wrong...the boobs are displayed quite delicately in this cover shot ...most times other photos are quite an exaggeration of the full figured woman as is jennifer. in fact, it shows her curves well because the angle in which it was taken is very complimentary and it is a super cover...well done.

Having worked in PR, the fashion industry and advertising I have NEVER seen a photo of a client on ANY magazine that WASN'T "touched"...anyone who thinks ANY magazine prints the original copy of any photograph is deluded...even the photos of space are touched for Science Magazines. False images sell better than reality and it's one reason people who are trying to emulate these celebs are endeavoring to live up to impossible standards...because they AREN'T REAL!!!! The photo of Hudson was great...but it wasn't HUDSON any more than photos of OPRAH are OPRAH...or Aniston is Aniston etc etc etc...

What's the difference?
Everyone knows that Jennifer is a full sized woman and proud of it.
It's her TALENT that should concern and involve us, NOT whether her photo was enhanced or reduced.

Nothing wrong with this photo except the airbrushing to make the boobs smaller and those bones?????

Jennifer Hudson is "overly curvy"...by whos standards? Vogues? She is beautiful. She is a real woman in a real body. It's because of trash like Vogue that women throw up perfectly good food.

She looks exactly the same as she always does. Her clavicles are sticking out like razor blades because of her posture in this shot.

She's a beautiful girl.I hate the pose, the angle & how this was shot. It's very unflattering. It's a very FUNLOVING cover but this practically shows her toncils. Of course she's been airbrushed. That's no big deal. They do it on others that wear size 2.
I LOVE the way she shines since Amer. Idol. She's come such a LONG way !!!

I love all of the photos, including the cover. The piano shot is stunning. Vogue's fussy policies on cover models are truly of little interest to me. At some point, the rarefied air of the fashion industry will cause those in its major institutions to expire from want of critical oxygen flow to the brain. Hopefully that will happen before "stars" like Victoria Beckham and Nicole Richie starve themselves into utter oblivion, or worse, heart failure. I don't even BUY Vogue unless the cover happens to be of an entertainer or someone else whose story is of interest to me. Jennifer Hudson is a vital, beautiful woman with a great set of lungs. One of the best choices VOGUE has made in quite some time.

Hats Off to vogue !!
All magazines and publicity venues should make everyone look good and be proud of who they are No matter what!!!
Id like to see bigger girls in teen magazines as roll models and articles for teens to read to make them proud of thier size and teach them to be healthy and happy!!!

Much ado about nothing. Jennifer Hudson is absolutely gorgeous! Having her on Vogue is a step-up from the heroin-addict-looking-half-starved-things that usually appear on the cover.

I agree with the poster known as brick...Jennifer Hudson deserves to be on the cover of Vogue just as much as anyone else...what does it matter...? Pretty much everyone is airbrushed and photoshopped on the covers of these mags. And, it bears repeating: She knows she's voluptuous, we know she's voluptuous...it's not a secret...so show it off!

It's about time someone called to task Ms.Darkglasses Wintour and her bonyassed, starved to skinny, anorexic "super models" and put on the cover a beautiful, talented, full figure WOMAN. What is soooooo super about SuperModels? Times they are a changing---thank Goddess.

Are you Kidding me??? Everyone in Vogue or any magazine are photoshopped. Why is it that you must single her out? You should have put that reason in. It is a fact that the media and magazines dont want to show fatness, which is a shame because real women have curves, but they photoshop even the tiniest women. Jennifer is beautiful and sooo talented. Her singing gave me goosebumps. I am happy for her success but I am sick and tired of people comparing her to Beyonce. Thats like comparing Tomatoes to Apples. There is a big difference. I love my girl Beyonce but her voice cant hold a candle to Jennifers. She is different and since Whitney, we need a new power voice. Let Jennifer shine in all her glory. A new day has come.

Why is it that a curvy black woman is on Vogue and there is questions about airbrushing? Is it to insinuate that when the white skinny chicks are on the cover they don't need air brushing? Most of them are not half the bueaty until they are shaped into a marketable image. Typical of white people need I say more.
