Would you dress like a Disney princess for your wedding?
Filed under: Fashion, Best of the Season
Just what you always wanted for your wedding day: to be a princess. Thanks to a new initiative from Disney, that dream could become a reality. The company has recently introduced a series of dresses fashioned after their fictional cartoon heroines. In a Wall Street Journal interview, designer Kristie Kelly says Cinderella is "classic glamour," Snow White has "sweet elegance," Ariel from The Little Mermaid has a "sultry allure" and is "comfortable showing her body," and Jasmine from Aladdin is "bohemian chic."
I'll never be able to watch The Little Mermaid the same way again.
Would you wear Disney on your wedding day?

While my daughter's were young we watched Cinderella one hundred times ....maybe more....and i remember commenting that her gown would be perfect for a real person's wedding dress.

I actually had a real DISNEY FAIRY TALE wedding ten years ago. I would have loved to have this option. Great idea!

When I got married, my wedding dress reminded me of the yellow ball gown that Belle wore in Beauty and the Beast. Since then, I've seen many different wedding gowns that already resemble these famous disney gowns. I think Disney is just trying to put their name in another market, one that doesn't necessarily need the animated touch....

hi i just wanna say that for years my grandmother has been making wedding dresses. she was 89 years old , and still made them, she was a bit slow, but her dresses still come out flawless! they are amazing. when she heard of this, she was soo happy that finally dresses could meet up to her standard in having gorgeaous dresses made! she passed away yesterday night, but before she died she was smiling that they have beautiful disney dresses to own! i still sell her dresses because they are gorgeous! shes made 1, 200, in her days. i have 340 right now. but you guys made her last breath a happy good one. thank you. she died happy. =D

My wedding dress actually looked just like Belle's from Beauty & the Beast, in all off-white. I didn't get it thinking thats what it looked like but once I had it on everyone around me was amazed at how much it looked like. At my wedding I must've heard it 20 times - and everyone loved it. Its a great idea to make Disney movie looking wedding dresses, how much for of a princess could you feel on your wedding day in a dress like that. I love it! Can't wait to see what the dresses look like!

My daughter commented that while she might wear a Disney Princess Wedding Dress for an upscale costume party, she would never purchase one for her wedding. "Unless you are really into Disney and are getting married in Disney World, it would look very tacky in church. Anyway, why would I want to wear the same wedding dress that thousands of other brides are probably wearing? It's just an expensive version of pulling a kid's Princess dress off the rack at Target." I have to concur with her comments.

It will be a welcome change from the look-alike strapless gowns so many brides have chosen in recent years.

This is so awesome! I absolutely love Disney! Everytime a new dvd comes out my boyfriend buys it because he knows how much I love disney. I must have watched Cinderella and The Little Mermaid a hundred times when I was little! I'm getting married in about 3 1/2 yrs and it would be absolutely wonderful if they had these dresses to look at and try on!

Looks like something my 10 year old neice would love to wear and look cute in but as far as a grown woman is concerned - I don't think so!

I love Sleeping Beauty, if there was a dress like that I would buy it and have my wedding all over again! Or if it there was a Belle dress inspired off of her yellow ball gown. Oh my goodness, this is the best idea I think any designer has ever had!

Doesn't Disney make enough money as it is? Is it their goal to have their merchandise in every conceivable market possible? It's not about making a bride feel like a princess, it's about greed. Would have worn a Disney dress for my wedding? HA! No way.

The first thought that entered my mind was how Disney has added the "Bibbity-Bobbity-Boutique" to their Downtown Disney store. For packages that range to over $200.00, they put little girls in fussy costumes, complete with make-up, artifical nails and wigs. They can't just be kids anymore. They have to go to the parks looking like they are off to some sort of whacky kiddie prom. Given that it's mainly the mothers who push the kids to get all done-up in this stuff, it makes sense that Disney would come out with a "Fairy Tale" line of dresses that adult women can wear. Now if they can only figure out an angle ( schtick ) which gives mothers and grandmothers a reason to dress like fairy princesses .... Disney will have it made!

My husband and I got married at DisneyWorld 2 years ago. We had a Cinderella Wedding. I wore Cinderellas wedding dress, glass slippers and crown, and my husband wore Prince charmings wedding attire. It was just like in the movie! Cinderella herself even sent a wedding gift to our suite. It was the most magical time of my life! We are going back this year to celebrate our anniversary. Disney knows how to make you feel special!
