Drugstore Beauty Queen: L'oreal True Match foundation
Filed under: Fashion, Beauty, Makeup, Designers & Brands
The quest for a drugstore brand foundation continues today with L'oreal's True Match Super Blendable Makeup, which sells at slightly higher than the drugstore average for foundations, about $10 for 1.0 fl. oz.Color. Of all the drugstore foundations out there, L'oreal's True Match wins for the wdiest range in color matching options, and also has the advantage of providing a color matching card in the store display that takes into account both light/darkness as well as the undertones. You use a small plastic card that you hold up to your face to find the perfect color. Of course, it's not perfect, and your skin isn't perfect either, but it's definitely helpful.
As I have said, I am pretty fair skinned (naturally, and because I stay out of the sun), so I went with N2, a Neutral undertone at level 2. Colorwise, it was almost perfect.
Coverage. The makeup has a very light, liquid texture, which is a benefit if you like a sheer, natural look. However, though it is called "super blendable," I had trouble getting an even layer over my face to create a smooth, single tone. It doesn't cover redness or blotchiness, and definitely doesn't cover blemishes at all.
Other. Because it comes out of a bottle, it is a little bit messy trying to get it out of the bottle. Somehow I always manage to get fingerprints of foundation all over the bottle.
Looks like I'm not buying this one again for sure.
