Marshalls "Fashion Police" issuing citations to Chicago fashion "victims"
Filed under: Fashion, News, Designers & Brands
In what sounds like a very clever publicity stunt, off-price retailer Marshalls sent dozens of "Fashion Police" onto the streets of Chicago, giving tickets to anyone they felt was a victim of overpriced fashion. By the looks of it, no one could mistake these women for actual police officers, and the only penalty for being cited as a "victim" is that you're "required" to appear in front of a registrar at one of Marshalls' Chicago locations. If the offender actually shows up at store, they're then eligible to win a number of prizes -- including a $5,000 shopping spree.
There's also a charitable side to the promotion -- as the campaign kicked-off with a $5,000 donation to the Heartland Alliance, a Chicago charity focused on economically vulnerable men and women.
I can't remember the last time I was in a Marshalls, so I have no idea if this means they're actually selling more fashionable clothes. But it's such a funny idea, that I just might stop in to check.
