I love wearing giant earrings, and more often than not, I'm wearing either silver or gold hoops that barely graze my shoulders. I particularly love the look of enormous hoop earrings when hair is pulled back away from the face, letting the earrings have their full glory.

However, these earrings by Erickson Beamon make me cringe. Apart from the fact that they cost a cool $345, they are so long that I fear for the safety of the wearer's earring holes! If they were on some snap-release mechanism that might let go of the ear if accidentally pulled, I think it would be okay, but these earrings are pretty secure in there. One false move by an overzealos BFF giving a hug could tear that earlobe into two.

Is it just me, or are these earrings excessive?
