Runway meets Sesame Street
Every month or so I like to review my ABC's, you know so I don't forget. No, not those ABC's (fashionistas really aren't that dumb), I was reviewing Elle's Runway ABC's. This go round letter "A" was for Anime, which sounded adorable and fun, until I clicked on the first image to see that a gothic version of Big Bird has strapped on a pair of heels and stomped the runway.Big Bird came from Giles Deacon's 2007 ready-to-wear collection. The collection looked normal for the most part, all pretty wearable stuff, with the exception of that big furry monster. I can't even begin to imagine why that "outfit" was created, perhaps it was punishment for a model who actually ate before the runway show. Gasp, but I digress.
The rest of the anime lesson was as expected; fun colors and pattens, even some cartoons characters-- such as Jeremy Scott's war-ready Care Bear. If you want to master the anime look yourself this summer try pairing unusual color combinations with funky prints such as stars or lightening bolts, or just raid your little sister's closet for some cartoon print tops.
