What goes around comes around, but why Spats???

Step over open-toed booties 'cause there's a new sheriff in ugly town who goes by the name Spats. Spats? you might ask, What are spats?Spats first hit the scene during the Edwardian period when women wore the fabric gaiters over their shoes to protect their feet and ankles.
Given that this is 2007, not 1907, one would think the spat would have gone the way of the bustle by disappearing into the fashion closet ether, but they haven't. In fact, Satine boutique sells a line of pricey, modern spats designed to fit not over those lace up street shoes, but over your Manolos!
According to the product description, spats are "all the rage in LA right now", but from the looks of them, I seriously doubt that claim is true. Honestly, what self-respecting LA woman would desecrate a perfectly great pair of heels with a strap of leather that looks like it was pilfered from the wardrobe of Mr. Peanut?
