Even Tony Blair gets airbrushed

Over the past week we've seen Gwyneth Paltrow Photoshopped so heavily that she was barely recognizable, and a Britney Spears perfume ad that looked more like the pop star circa 1998 than the drunken lunatic who's been showing up in gossip mags.

And today we have yet another trip into the land of fantasy -- this time courtesy of Men's Vogue magazine.

Their September cover features Tony Blair, the UK's former prime minister, looking remarkably youthful. Granted, they're trying to depict Blair as the man who made Britain "cool," rather than the guy who left office as a political disaster -- and it's not exactly like prime ministers and fashion mags are known for being truthful.

But come on, Tony Blair is a 54-year-old politician -- why does Vogue think he needs to look like a 40-year-old movie star?

T Blair appears strained and stressed, not young. Too bad that Politicians are 'viewed' by their "looks" and not their policy and actions. The outside of the book tells little of its' content and quality. Really "Look" at what parents and society teach the next generation and you'll know what's in "store" for us!!! It's not unexpected that you don't know. Ans: Insecurity(aka materialism and greed, neurosis)
Democracy and Social Consciousness are compatible; but, Oligarchy(the Richest getting richer, the Increasing Income Divide) is the fashion of the day !!!!!!!!

You write for fashion, and judging by your comments that by the way have nothing to do with your subject matter on "photoshopping", truth would not be a part of your reportoire either.

ditto Faye-neither the comment of him leaving office nor the honesty comment indeed have anything to do with style other than the lack of it in the post.......which may be the true reason for it in the first place. The biggest problem I see in the pic is that his shirt has nary a wrinkle, and that maybe Tony boy has had some R&R. Yes--, it does look as though his face is a bit too narrow and a few less wrinkles, but it's hard to tell with the goofy grinning pic given to try to compare it to.
