Elle designs for Kohls. Yuck!

How did this one slip past me? While being caught up in the swirl of having every celebrity on the planet designing their own clothing line, I guess I didn't even notice that magazines had followed suit. Elle magazine has a collection at Kohls! Oh gees, I just threw up a little bit in my mouth. Why on earth did anyone think that was a good idea? Anyone who reads Elle doesn't shop at Kohls. Soccer moms shop at Kohls to get their kids back to school outfits, they aren't going into Kohls to get real fashion. And people looking for real fashion certainly aren't stepping their Manolo covered toes into Kohls.
Elle, was Target all booked up for the season so you thought the next best thing was Kohls? Why are you designing clothing anyway? You are a fashion magazine, remember? You write about clothes and show them off on too thin models. I am so disappointed in you. I really am. You were my favorite fashion magazine and now I feel like you cheated on me with the trashy girl up the street. I didn't know you were the type to go against all you believe in for a few measly dollars. You know good and well you wouldn't be caught dead in a $27 dress. Just like you know you don't promote size 18, which is the highest size your cheap clothes go up to.
My head hurts.
If you care to check out Elle's

...and the pessimism continues. Lauren, your posts are SO much better when you turn the bitching down. It doesn't come off as clever and funny...instead it just makes me repulsed by you. I know I'm not the only one who feels this way.

Re Elle: Yeah, they are pretty bad. At this point, I'm waiting for my own chance to design a clothing line. Think Sears will let me have a shot at it? I'll call the look... OFFICE TART. Rawr. Anyway, Elle should spend its resources on its magazine and leave the designing to Hilary Duff.
Re Posts: Sure, some are on the negative side, and I actually don't agree with a lot of her opinions. But people: this is a blog, not the word of God (sorry Lauren). If you're repulsed by her entries, then roll your eyes and move on. Skip over them if you really have to. I mean really, her musings are really no worse than the snarky things that any woman would whisper to her girlfriends over cocktails... they're just out in public.

Gee, I'm not sure, but this may be one of the most pretentious things I've ever read.

How snobby can you be? I love Elle, too, and like you, it's my favorite magazine.
While I agree Elle's line at Kohl's is a little underwhelming, we can't all afford Manolos and if I'm able to pull together something casual-cute at Kohl's, are you really going to turn your nose up at me?
I'm not a soccer mom and regard Kohl's as the place to go for my basics -- Levi's, etc. Why should Target be the only store to try to bring a little more fashion sense to the masses? Maybe one day, America won't be so stylistically embarrassing if this keeps up.
