Keira Knightley: 'They airbrush the f--- out of me'

So say you're a world-famous model or actress, and everyone is constantly taking your picture, telling you how beautiful you are, and including you on Top Ten Most Attractive lists -- how do you deal with it all?

Keira Knightley simply responds: "Thanks. I've got good genes!"

But beyond that, the star also acknowledges that much of her appearance is crafted by others. She tells People: "OK, I'm on the cover of a magazine, but somebody else does the hair, and the makeup, and airbrushes the f--- out of me -- it's not me, it's something other people have created."

We're used to seeing movie stars', and even politicians' images grossly manipulated by photographers who go crazy with Photoshop. It's refreshing to see someone in the public eye being so frank and down to Earth about what's becoming an increasingly ridiculous practice.

Of course they airbrush & photoshop the crap out of Keira Knightly! She's got the body of a 10 yr old boy!

It's definitely a nice change to see someone who admits their appearance when it comes to magazines, photoshoots, and stuff like that isn't all them. Good for you Kiera! Thanks for being honest and making the rest of us not so beautiful people feel better about ourselves lol

To airbrush something the photo is altered using a program like photoshop. They remove shadows, wrinkles, blemishes, fat rolls, lol etc... I wish I could airbrush some of my less fortunate areas!!! Gimme an eraser, quick! They can change the color of eyes or hair or skin. It's awesome it makes everyone look perfect. NONE of these people are perfect, thank God!

Airbrushing used to be done with an actual airbrush. That's why they call it that. An airbrush kind of blows paint out slowly in a fine mist.

It's not photographers who use Photoshop to manipulate images...graphic designers do. That is a graphic designer's job.
Keira Knightly struggles with acne too....I've seen photos of her with very broken out skin, but she was still very pretty. It would be nice if magazines would show that people can have noticeable flaws like that & still be very attractive.

We like Keira! it is refreshing to see someone in Hollywood show that it is a created illusion that is on the cover of magazines. Created by many talents in the industry.

I have much respect for Keira, she really is an amazing actress. I do wish she would seek some help for her weight. She's obviously naturally thin, but her bones are popping out. I guess what bothers me is that even though some celebs admit to airbrushing (though there's no way to deny it), they still go through with it and put out an image that's completely fake. I wish celebs would take a stand against it, which I doubt since most probably enjoy looking "perfect" in pictures. It's a shame that more of them don't care about the impact these images have on women. Still, I do appreciate her talking openly about it. Some actresses would have us prefer that's how they normally look. And I'd also like to say that Keira is a big girl and can say whatever the f--- she'd like. Saying a word, which you may interpret as being a bad word, doesn't mean she lacks morals. Judge her by her actions, not her potty mouth.

Who doesn't? I've had pics enhanced by airbrushing and darn if I didn's want to wear the photo atached to my face!!!

If they didn't get airbrushed , hair done , etccc , they wouldn't be
interesting.

When the day is done , they're sitting back collecting there paycheck
it doesn't matter what's being done , as long as there money in the
bank , this is what it's all about the MIGHTY DOLLAR ......

Actresses are all fake .........nothing natural.......

They're using there body ..........

First of all, any ADULT who looks at these hollywood people as something more then what they themself are, are very foolish. I really get a kick out of people who think they "know" these people on the silver screen, they haven't a clue who these people "really" are. Yet they still sit and gudge them all day, everyday and even go as far as saying things like they are "proud" of them or how they need to seek "help" because the reader read something someplace about them. Come on people, all of these Hollywood folks are just out making a living like you and me and there is not ONE thing different in them than you other than maybe their bank roll. People that constantly feed their ego's are what make them strut and act like they are really something you and I are not. So next time you want to bash one of them or even praise one just remember, you really have no clue who these people are and what they believe in. They are no different than the person who lives down the street from you that you've never met.

I think it is a favorable mark that she does not proclaim to be the perfect Hollywood image in which she is portrayed. It makes regular guys think they could have a chance to woo or just hang out with her. STARDOM often over enhances the ego. Nice to hear someone staying honest.

Not sure why they show some models looking like they are anorexic pieces of bones with boobs on them. It's not even healthy looking. I would hate to think some teens would strave themselves to look so sick. Sure, pretty face, but so skinny looking that she looks like she is about dead if not for the lighting of the picture. Sorry, but so many others models out there that don't look like death. This is a poor example for teens to see here.

Fans that fall in love with a character and image might sense disappointment with the real deal should they meet them...I mean you may not want to lick her toes if she had just cut the lawn lawn barefooted and stepped in doo right?

But then if you hose those toes off.....some of us yeah!!
