Move it Mom, it's Dad jeans time
Filed under: Fashion, Best of the Season, Denim, Stylish Living
Thought ugly jeans were exclusive to Mom? You're wrong. Dad jeans are not a tall tale, they are true and scary.
Details.com has an article out on the most dangerous piece of denim for men, the Dad jeans. I was on the floor laughing when Details.com described the jeans like this: "The wash? Wal-Mart blue. The crotch? The length of a baby's arm."
Ouch!
Apparently men are afraid of jeans, according to Rogan Gregory who is the founder of Rogan jeans, saying that "Guys are a little afraid of jeans, they don't want to deviate from their tried-and-true five-pocket pair. But you can't wear those with a sports jacket. It's not a tight look. You can't just stick with your 'safe' jeans."
Amen, Rogan!
Details.com warns against going with male skinny jeans (that's just wrong), or trying-to-be-hip torn jeans. They simply advise you to take a good hard look at yourself in the mirror before leaving the house. Rogan also suggests that you stop being so darn lazy and "go shopping once or twice a year." It's not a bad idea guys, styles change and you need to keep up.
Make sure to check out the video by Details.com that runs through all of the fashion Daddy don'ts.

For us cowboy types, and there are a lot of us through out the 50 states, tight fitting jeans are a necessity. Loose, baggy, fashion jeans spell trouble with a capitol T. Wear loose fitting stylish jeans under your chaps, and big trouble, for you will wear blisters where blisters are not meant to be. Likewise, too loose in the seat, and from sitting in the saddle, you will rub areas that are also not wear you want raw spots on your anatomy.
Not wear skinny tight jeans with a dress (western style only please) and a sport jacket? Give me a break, you fashion people need to get out and go west of the Mississippi, try Wyoming, Montana, Idaho and places like that. You will learn a lot. Heck, you might even try looking up some of the rodeo riders from a view years ago, guys like Bobby Delvecio from New York City, a world champion bull rider, or Charlie Sampson, from Watts, California, also a world champion bull rider, and not the mechanical kind. Check with them for fashion. forget this rock artists, hip hop and the like, give them a year, and they are history.

I'm so tired of trying to find jeans that fit! All the big sizes are either 44w 30-34L or they have "Fat Albert" tattoed on the ass of them. I'm just as much into fashion and the next man but give me a brake! Even my Levi's and Wrangler are sized wrong. I do not want to walk on my pant legs and I don't thing I should have to have them tailored either. You fashion queens need to start thinking about the common man not the prefect fashion wearers. Not all of us are runway models, don't need to be or want to be one. You're losing a huge market out there. With your sale in the dog house the past several years it seems you get hungry and start listening to your customers, we're the ones that will stay with you when the kids are out of money!

I wear jeans--with a sportcoat, with a dress shirt, whatever--a MAN does not worry what the" fashion" mongers say. I am not a woman. I do not care what some effeminate twit has to say. I wear what I want.

On your butt. Please. Just make sure they fit your butt. That's all I ask. I'm sick of underwear showing and I'm sick of guys with rolls over the top because they think they can pull off the pencil skinny leg jeans. Just show us butt, and the leg part doesn't matter to me. Straight, skinny, whatever. Just stop wearing man-skirt jeans. Dear god PLEASE!!! (BTW, this is coming from a 19 year old lol So ahem younger men of the world... Just want to let you know... This is what us girls bitch about when you aren't around.)

Guys, I don't care what you're wearing. Dad's are SEXY. There is nothing better than seeing a guy playing with his kids. Turns me on every time. I guess it may not do much for the twenty something crowd.

Do you know how hard it is to find jeans for men (or woman for that matter) that fit! We are a small family and finding jeans for my husband (or myself or kids) is a day long hunt! Most mens departments start at 30in waist, my husband needs a 28 or 29! Forget stores like Wal-Mart or Target, they cater the the large crowd! Even Sears or Penneys carry only 30in. or bigger in the "daddy" style, he wants a nice fit (not tight, torn, or too low of a rise) but can only find them small enough in the boys section, which of course don't work because the pockets are too small! Where can those of us who wear small sizes get decent jeans (no "mommy' or "daddy" jeans) without having to shop in the kids section! Juniors dept. does not work for me because of the hips and thighs, but cannot find stores that carry a small 2, most start at size 4 or bigger! Even in the kids section, the "husky" dept. is now bigger than the slim section, it is getting harder and harder to shop for the whole family!

The scariest jeans a dad can wear are hip-huggers. Plumbers have proven this.

Had to laugh when I read this. My retired father is the perfect example of a "Dad Jean" wearer. He's worn the same style of JcPenny dark wash 5-pocket jeans for as long as I can remember. Saggy butt jeans with no shape that were always a little too short. And ALWAYS a two button collared polo shirt. The "Dad Uniform"!?

I've begun a new trend in the Cincinnati area and I think it's catching on. Denim kilts. You get plenty of ventilation, don't have to worry about inseams or pants dragging the ground under your shoes. You can still wear a belt or a sport coat with it, people just think you're REALLY into your heritage.

Just buy Levis they seem to have all sizes! Go to Holister they have small sizes like 26 waist and up.

I dont want to see anyone's butt or anything else for that matter. I wish more people would get some modesty about themselves. Wear cloths that fit right. Not too tight and not so loose that thier tail end hangs out.
I dont like seeing what brand of undercloths someone wears and I dont want to see every crack and crevis either.

Who told you fashion police that its cool to wear JEANS with a sport or suit jacket? That ain't cool. I don't care who says it or actually puts it into play, if you too lazy to find some slacks to wear, leave the sport coat behind! Sport coat and jeans, you done lost your minds...
Next it will be cool for men to wear ruffled blouses and pumps!
