Styles that Stick: Diamond Stud Earrings
Filed under: Accessories, Vintage and Retro, Fashion, Designers & Brands
Every time, it's the same routine. Getting ready to go out for lunch with the girls, cocktails, dinner -- whatever requires my getting dressed beyond the standard blogger attire of pajamas --I change my outfit at least three times. And with each change, I do the deed of accessorizing. Though accessorizing is one of my favorite parts of getting dressed, it requires time and energy a focus on detail to perfectly match jewelry to an outfit. Do I go boho with wooden hoops? How about something trendy with dangling semi-precious gems? Or should I rewind to Mod with some giant white plastic loops? When I can't take it anymore (which isn't all that often - some days/nights, I wouldn't mind just scrapping the whole idea of going out altogether and staying home playing in my closet), I turn to a classic - diamond studs. You can never go wrong by wearing a pair of diamond studs, a timeless look that's simple, classy, and elegant. Sure, each diamond might not be 3 carats, but the little bit of authentic bling that even 1/4 ct on your ears brightens the face physically with sparkle, as well as emotionally. Come one, they're dianonds.

you change your outfit three times before going to dinner? WIERDO. Surely you know what all your clothes look like on your body, and can match up colors and styles without wearing them? The only time I ever reject an item after putting it on is if it doesn't fit anymore. I like fashion, a lot, but it doesn't take me ages and ages to get ready, because unlike some people, I guess, I'm not a self-obsessed idiot.

Man. Are you having a lousy day, Clarice?
Have you never decided at the last minute that you wanted to change your outfit because it didn't feel right? Or because you realized that what you're wearing isn't quite appropriate for wherever you're going? Or maybe you knew that what you're wearing was okay, but putting something else on would look twice as good? No? Never? I find that hard to believe.
I think it's a little out of line to call someone a self-obsessed idiot, especially after spending half the post talking (very self-righteously, I might add) about your very own fashion decisions. Sorry to get all Scolding-Mom on you, but this is a fashion blog, where people write about, you know, clothes --this includes changing outfits. And in the time it took for you to write that rant, someone just managed to pull on a different dress, tie her hair up, and change her shoes.

Thanks, LC. Took the words right out of my mouth.
Clarice: Some people are indecisive and will and can happily spend time matching their outfits to their moods. They think it's fun. You'll get over it.
