The Sun -- the paper, not the tabloid -- published a story last week under the headline: Crocs can kill. The story reported that Sheffield hospitals in the UK recently placed a ban on Crocs. The Sun claimed the ban was due to static electricity risks, which could potentially knock out important medical equipment. (This was the reasoning behind a similar ban in a Swedish hospital, which began back in the spring.)
Yikes! No one would want that, but could Crocs really you?
Not likely.
When The Independent, another UK newspaper, contacted the Sheffield hospital to ask about the ban, a spokesperson said that the decision had nothing to do with static electricity, and the shoes were outlawed because they violated the existing dress code.
So, there you have it, folks, Crocs won't kill you, but they will make you look dumb.
Wear them if you like, it's your funeral.
