Breaking out? Could be your make-up

MAC Studio FixSharing time! I've got something good here that will hopefully help a few of you out there.

For the past few months, my skin has been going absolutely berserk. I noticed that my normally clear skin was breaking out a lot more than usual, but I couldn't pin-point the reason. Usually, the only reason why I use foundation is because my skin tone is slightly uneven, but after the break-outs, I would wear more in a desperate attempt to cover up. MAC's Studio Fix generally did the trick. Unfortunately, my skin kept going insane and I kept putting on the Studio Fix. Now, I believe that the foundation was what caused me to break out in the first place, which is actually kind of funny to think about now that I'm not freaking out about it.

My Studio Fix was close to running out, so I jumped onto Sehora.com to see what they had to offer. I ended up buying the $60 Bare Minerals kit and, after only a week of using it, I can safely say that my break-outs have completely ceased. I know I sound like an ad right now, but I'm dead serious and I haven't been paid by Bare Minerals to pitch this. I'm not sure if my skin has calmed down because Bare Minerals is magic or if MAC's Studio Fix is evil. Maybe I just had that Studio Fix for too long. It has been a little over six months since I've purchased a new bottle, so maybe that's the reason.

The Bare Minerals doesn't offer nearly as much coverage as Studio Fix, which is annoying but then again, if less coverage means less break-outs and therefore less things to cover, that's fine with me. I'll always love MAC for their fabulous eyeshadows and liners, but I think I'll leave their foundations alone for a while.

All right, the lesson here is that if you've been experiencing long-term break-outs and your family has a history of fairly tame complexion, you haven't been under horrible stress or eating horrible things, and you generally take good care of your skin, look into what sort of make-up you've been slapping on. Try a different brand or kind of make-up and see if things settle down. You may be surprised. Also, always remember that cosmetics don't last forever, for they have an expiration date too!
