Ho, Ho, Horrible: The worst in holiday attire

The holidays are a time of cheer, giving, snow, miracles, and all of that good stuff. However with the good always comes the bad. The bad can be anything from your drunken uncle singing "jingle bells" at the top of his lungs or your senile great aunt trying to name off all of Santa's reindeers. Those bad holiday moments are things that I can handle. What I can't handle is bad holiday fashion. Here are the top 8 holiday style fouls that hopefully no one reading this blog has ever committed.
The holiday sweater: Perhaps the deadliest of holiday sins! I believe people wear these sweaters to express how much they love the holidays. I know it can be hard to express love but a sweater isn't the answer. Try eating a candy cane instead.
The holiday brooch: While the brooch is a lot less extreme than say a holiday sweater, a tacky holiday brooch can ruin what was a perfectly good outfit.
The Santa hat: These hats should only be allowed on one class of people; people who are being paid to look like Santa. Paid is the key word here.
Holiday ties: When you wear a tie you are telling the world "Its business time." When you wear a holiday tie you are telling the world "I don't want a holiday bonus this year."
Ornament earrings: Save the ornaments for the tree sweetie, these earrings are always a bad idea.
Napoleon Dynamite boots: Baby, I know it's cold outside but looking like a 1980's reject is never a good look.
Jingle bell jewelry: Because no one wants to hear you "jingle" before you walk into a room.
Holiday shoes: These shoes just break my heart. If you own a pair of shoes like these you may as well give up now and go join the circus.

So very very "TACKY"; those are gifts you give out to the teachers
at your kids school whom you don't like too much!!!

I agree with everything on the list EXCEPT for the Santa Hat. True, it's not approriate for the office, but a Santa Hat at a party can be funny and cute.

I love wearing all of my Christmas finery every chance I get! And I do have a lot!
I feel sorry for people who wear nothing but neutrals all the time. They make me feel like they have no personality and just want to blend into the background.
Show some personality people (and I don't let the "fashion police" dictate what I wear either)!!!!

Hey check out this new website I found called www.shopmodify.com for your holiday shopping. It's an amazing online eco-friendly boutique. They are having a holiday sale this weekend featuring 25% off on clothing and
accessories (excluding vintage and pre-sale items). Sale runs from Thursday-Monday. They also have a great selection of pre-sale items and new vintage products that are being added this week.

Does your brother Ebenezer know you are out and about? It is obvious you really dislike the Holiday Season. Did you get one too many pairs of socks for Hanukkah? People who wear these "Horrible" items are usually looking for a little fun.

I love the Christmas Chuck's! My middle school age daughter would wear them with green tights and socks, and a short plaid green & red skirt, gobs of green & red bangles, and a t-shirt. Two high pony tails with tinsel tucked in completes the look. The point is to be creative and have fun. Why be boring? It's Christmas!

I don't care what this person says, I will wear my Christmas sweater or sweatshirts because I enjoy them. I might even wear my Christmas tree earrings and my wreath pin just to annoy people like you. I think I was put on this earth just to serve this purpose. Christmas is my favorate holiday of the year and the more gaudy the better. So, have a Merry Christmas anyway.

I think that all you materialistic people should stop worrying about fashion all the time and chill out, relax and have fun on the holidays. I will have fun and wear my Christmas sweater, Christmas tree earrings and wreath and when I'm relaxing after visiting everybody, I will put on my Christmas pj's with my feet up and look at my decorated tree and house and love every minute of the most beautiful holiday of the year, Jesus Christ's birthday.

I agree with the sweaters, but the rest of its fine with me. I love Santa hats! When I travel during the holidays, I wear them to the airport. :)

geez!! my mom used to dress me up in a holly berry sweatshirt and jingle bell necklace when i was little :) those happen to be fond memories...not ones where i was obsessed with how horribly faux pas i was dressed. haha...let non-cranky, fun, JOYFUL and Christmas loving people have their moment without dishing some sloaner advice their way. :) your fashion mess is all marketing scam...not very helpful

So, no teachers out there? Kids love the cute, but "tacky" holiday garb. However, teachers do it not for themselves, but for the cheer and festivity it represents. Give poeple a break!

I think this article is in extremely poor taste. Making cracks about relatives who are aging or just wanting to have fun at a family party is about the most pathetic thing around---trying to make yourself feel important?
And what's up with trying to tell us what to wear and what not to wear? Some parties are formal and sophisticated, sure, some events wish to be elegant---but not ALL of them!
I love fun and cute holiday touches---what's wrong with a little fun and sparkle and glitter?
Nothing, that's what.
As to the snow boots---ah, MOST people wear them outside. In the SNOW. That was the JOKE in Napoleon Dynamite---he's a nerdy high school kid who wears them all the time like "moon boots"!
Jeezz......

"Brooch" is jewelry. "Broach" is a verb meaning to advance, approach, hint, interject, interpose, introduce, mention, moot, move, offer, open up, propose, raise, speak of, submit, suggest, talk of, touch on.

well even with the bells no one hears me enter a room.
fashion changes all the time, the only thing fashion caters to thin, skinny people

Who made this person the standard for Christmas. Christmas is a holiday of Joy an Thanksfulness to our Loar.
And surely if wearing a holiday sweater, ornament earings and the like make folks feel fine...then so be it.
Enjoy and wear what ever you like that make you feel good.
As for our home, we dress in holiday sweaters and the like to celebrate Christmas Eve at church and wear those sweaters to holiday parties.
Who ever wrote those "decrees" needs to get a life and loosen up.
