Drugstore Beauty Queen: Aveeno Clear Complexion Foaming Cleanser
Filed under: Beauty
Oh, how we love a drugstore beauty product that works like a department store product, and if it actually works better? We're sold on that $5.99 price!
You know we've been on the hunt for a good cleanser for the last 12 months, trying everything from samples of high-end boutique-only lines to infomercial-inspired age-defying brands, and back to our old junior high drugstore days. Clearly, we already believe that drugstore facial cleansers are fine, but we're picky about them. Cetaphil? Sure, but we like something that foams. Clean and Clear Morning Burst? But we want to feel squeaky clean after rinsing (please, no lectures about how bad that "squeaky clean" feeling actually is for our skin).
We think we have found the answer with what is new to us from Aveeno, Clear Complexion Foaming Cleanser. Not only does it create a lather, but the liquid comes out of the dispenser as a light airy foam, like those foamy liquid handsoaps. The formula rinses clean, and so far, it doesn't overdry our already dry skin that's made worse in this winter weather. Aveeno has always been known as a "dermatologist's brand" like Eucerin, so we trusted it before we even bought it, but after using it now for a week, we love it. It probably helps that we're cheating by using it in conjunction with our Clarisonic brush, but hey, we made that investment last year.
Aveeno Clear Complexion Foaming Cleanser is available from your local drugstore for about $7, or at Amazon.com.

I adore drugstore beauty sections. Specifically the 24-hour Rexall's in L.A. I will have to try this Aveno one. It's new to me. My favorite under $6.00 treat is Smith's Rosebud Salve. I love the scent, the tin, the feel of it. So pretty, it would make a good stocking stuffer!

I use Aveeno positively ageless daily moisturizer SPF 30 since a bout with skin cancer and the dermatologist told me to. It is the best thing I have ever used. I will be trying the Clear Complexion Foaming Cleanser now along with it.

I was using the Aveeno daily exfoliating scrub but decided to buy this instead about a month ago. I love it. It is squeaky clean but not to squeaky. My skin looks better too.

I've been using this product for about six months. My skin feels soft and has a slight sheen, but I'm still prone to the occasional hormonal breakout. Here's a couple tips for using the foam pump - one puff or two will be sufficient to work up a lather on bare skin. If you are washing off a heavier makeup foundation, use four to five puffs to produce a lather, otherwise it will feel like your washing with nothing but water. If used sparingly, one bottle can last for months.

If you recommend the cleanser to a friend or a family member, stocking stuffers and gift baskets are great ideas to get it to them.

I love the Aveeno Moisturizer, have been using it for years. Best part is I put a dab in my palm and then add either a drop of foundation or some powdered foundation and blend then spread on your face. It blends so nicely and makes your makeup look fresh. Works great with all the foundations I have bought that were not the perfect shade. I have tried this trick with other moisturizers and Aveeno works the best by far.

I like the foaming and clean rinsing , too, but I want paraben-free, so I use the Awesome Foaming Face Wash at www.faceofthewave.com (http://www.faceofthewave.com/catalog.php?item=49). It's amazing, the only thing that helped me with pregnancy breakouts, and the bottle lasts a long time.

If this is helpful, my Mom has used Oil of Olay for as long as I am old-
and shes 50 and can pass for a 30 yr old. People are always calling me her sister. I hope I got those genes.

I've been using Oil of Olay for 30 years and am 60. People tell me that I look 40! Now I'm encouraging my daughters who are in their 30's to start using it.

I've been using this cleanser for 3 months (the same bottle, it lasts a long time!) and it's the best I've ever tried. I love the way it smells and the way it makes my skin feel so clean, but not dry. The true test has been winter; my skin doesn't flake. I use it everyday with the Aveeno Moisturizer SPF15 and the the Aveeno Sunscreen SPF 30. I'm only 21 but I want to take really good care of my skin to prevent premature aging. I've tried many other cleansing and moisturizing products (i.e. St. Ive's, Oil of Olay, L'oreal) but they either leave my skin too greasy or too dry. I would recommend this product.

I've been using the Aveeno cleansing pads for months, and am very impressed. It's the only thing I've used, from drug store to dept. store products, that leaves my skin really clean--not a trace of makeup comes off on the cottonball when I use my toner.

i'm 52 and still have combination skin-oily/normal. i have found that flaking comes from toxins trying to get out of your body thru your skin. a great way to exfoliate those flaky areas is to put a topical antioxidant (denorex dandruff shampoo with ZINC for about 10 seconds then rinse)on them. it might get a little red but it calms down soon enough. i also like the clinique liquid facial soap mild. it comes in a three pack. i give them to friends who are travelling or now as stocking stuffers. a little goes a long way. very mild and clean/cleansing. leaves skin very smooth

I'm a huge fan of the Aveeno oatmeal soap. Very gentle. Doesn't feel like it's cleaning b/c it doesn't lather, but it does work and it's really easy on the skin.
