Will men's hats ever make a comeback?

It's been a while -- 40-50 years -- since it was cool to wear the product of a fine haberdashery out in public. I'm not talking about baseball caps here, those aren't really ever in style unless you count that trucker-hat phenomenon of the early 00's. I'm talking about a fedora, a trilby or even a beret. Could you really walk down the street wearing a bowler without feeling like a dork?

It's too bad really, full brimmed hats are way cool. Although many men's fashion gurus wish it weren't true, these days the classic men's hat has been relegated to being a fashion statement rather than an everyday accessory. It's probably all a conspiracy perpetrated by wig-makers, Rogaine and Propecia. Either way, it's not likely to change.

So unless you work out in the sun, you're probably not going to feel comfortable sporting a panama hat any time soon. If you do happen to want some headgear that's not over the top, you're kinda stuck with variations on the baseball cap. I have been noticing all kinds of military hats from American Civil War-era to Castro-inspired -- and they're really not bad.
