PETA's worst dressed list includes Eva Longoria, Kylie Minogue and Lindsay Lohan
Filed under: CELEBRITY STYLE, Celebrity
PETA has given the crown of worst dressed celebrity of the year to Miss Aretha Franklin. Lauren already talked about how Queen of Soul is notorious for mistreating her ladies, but apparently she's also notorious for mistreating animals via wearing fur. PETA says, "How 'bout some R-E-S-P-E-C-T for animals? Aretha, when you waddled into the Grammys in yet another vulgar fur, you looked as if you were going to perform 'I Am the Walrus' by the Beatles. You might be a queen, but you don't know jack about compassion."And that's not once, but twice in the past month that they have attacked Aretha for her weight. PETA recently sent her an open letter saying, "Music lovers may think of you as a 'queen,' but to animal lovers, you are a court jester . . . Why not shed the old-fashioned look that adds pounds to your frame and detracts from your beautiful voice?"
Really, was it necessary to bring up Aretha's extra poundage? I think PETA could get their point across without going there.
Coming in as runners up on PETA's annual worst dress online poll are Lindsay Lohan, Eva Longoria, Kylie Minogue, Kate Moss and Marilyn Manson. Respectively, PETA calls Lindsay Lohan "skanky," Kate Moss is a "super tramp" and Eva Longoria is a "streetwalker."
I guess PETA just wanted to remind us why they aren't known for their subtleness. Remember their parody of the Olsen's? They have a whole website called "Meet the Trollsen Twins."
Really, I think it's silly that PETA thinks attacking celebs will stop them from wearing fur. Don't get me wrong, I'm not big on wearing anything that was once cute and furry either. Cruelty to animals is not the answer, but nor is cruelty to celebrities. Make love, not war, PETA!

PETA is crazy. If you don't want to wear fur - then don't wear it! But don't try to infringe your beliefs upon others and tell them they shouldn't wear it or decide to call them skanks, streetwalkers, etc. because they wear fur. Huh, how old are these people who belong to PETA 10? Certainly no older than 15! These people just want something to jump on a bandwagon about. I wouldn't be surprised if some of these same people who slam people for wearing fur are enjoying steaks and pork chops for dinner. They probably have all kinds of leather shoes and purses and use all sorts of products tested on animals - make-up, prescription meds, who knows what else. Many celebrities jump on the PETA bus claiming to want animals protected but they live in all of these areas that used to be highly populated by animals but animals were driven out by construction. They don't care about that as long as they have a beautiful home in the valley or on a hilltop!!

....really? I thought the website was hilarious. Why would someone wear dead animals anyway. This country has plenty of garments available that do not require, in manufacturing, the brutal slaying of defensless animals. FYI, PETA members do not eat meat or wear leather. Please give PETA the props it deserves for trying to make a difference.

These celebreties (& sports figures) who make tremendous amounts of
money often have not graduated high school, cannot speak English
and have NO IDEA what the fur draping their bodies really means.
GET EDUCATED YOU OVERPAID CRUEL PEOPLE!!!

forget PETA. this is really about ther brutality of animals. Regardless if you like or dislike PETA. This is about how animals are just tortured in the worst of ways and THAT is wrong. It is by the grace of God any of us were not born into an animal with fur. Please have compassion people.

Yeah, PETA!
You have no right teaching adults how to be compassionate.
That's a parent's job, and if an adult is too ignorant and self absorbed
to realize that because of their vanity and low self, innocent animals
are raised in cages and then horrible tortured so that another 'dumb' animal can wear it's skin..blame the parents, because they have failed miserably.
Shame on fur wearer's!
Go to PETA and watch a video on how these animals are brutually killed, because of you insensitive people that think fur is glamous and haute..
If this doesn't make you sick and ashamed, then I feel sorry you and your children.
It takes 36 'dumb' animals to make a fur coat, and one to wear it.

You know, I love animals as much as the next guy. But people first.
I find PETA rude, and offensive. Reminds me of the line spokein by Michael Douglas in Wall Street. " WASP, love animals... hate people!"
I wouldn't spend money on a fur because I don't find wearing one appealling but you can win people over with a little tact. The comments in this story are offensive. How about a little R-E-S-P-E-C-T for others!!!
I hate bullies!

I don't wear fur, even though I like it. But if you kept f_ with me like you do others just out of spite I would ignore your cause. So maybe you should take another approach like hanging yourself.

wow really? hang themselves. Sure I disagree with PETAs over the top nonsense, but isn't wishing suicide on someone just as bad... maybe worse?

How do you know they didnt mean extra poundage as in her FUR JACKET, as in shed that..not her weight..yeah you go tell a woman of color shes too fat, they tryed to do that with TYRA what she say? SO WHAT.
Im not a PETA freak, but they do have a point. It all depends on your own moral standards.

being fat is an immoral thing? Dude, pick a few books and read. Being fat is not a immoral issue, being a nimrod on a comments board is.
adore7373 2-22-2008 @ 8:42AM
why must they be nasty to get their point across. that just makes people tune out anything worthy they make to say. rudeness never solved a prob. gets some class already. if they must go there some of those peta people look a hot mess them selves

PETA suggested that Aretha was fat. Oh my God, shame on them. I mean calling Lindsay Lohan "skanky," Kate Moss a "super tramp," and Eva Longoria a "streetwalker" isn't d-i-s-r-e-s-p-e-c-t-f-u-l, right? The only reason PETA didn't need to highlight Aretha's formidable poundage is that it's quite an apparent, larger-than-life reality.

Just above the begining of the readers comments sections is a link to an article: New York Trendspotting: Real women wear fur.
Society is so messed up. FUR LOOKS BEST ON ITS ORGINAL OWNERS. When it's ok to have people coats, then I'll wear rabbit.

I have no problem with you wearing a people coat if you can legally obtain the skin...

In the real world, PETA means People Eating Tasty Animals.

I tried making a coat out of lettuce but it just didn't hold up. Then I tried spinach. Damned if it didn't fall apart, too. Guess I'll just stay with fur.
I am, however, founding my own organization, PASHAW (People Against Stupid, Hypocritical Animal Worshippers). Our logo will be a crossed fork and knife superimposed over a porterhouse steak.
