White jeans are in, for men and women!

My friend Marshall showed up to a gathering the other day rocking one of this spring's greatest resurrections: white jeans. He was very excited about them; had just picked them up at Urban Outfitters in the West Village.White jeans are tricky. I'd venture to say they are trickier for women, as we generally wear them tighter. White clinging gently to your natural curves = good. White squeezing and squishing your natural curves = FAIL, go home.
When choosing a fit in white denim, don't panic. Don't let anyone convince you that white makes you look fatter so you have to get the smallest size into which you can shoehorn yourself. No. Let your white t-shirts be your lesson in how to wear white jeans. Too tight, and you look ridiculous if not lumpy. Too loose and you lose the sexy goodness of your shape.
This season, I recommend white jeans with a comfortable fit up top that comes to below your waist but above that "let me show you my underwear" danger-zone, a slightly tapered leg, paired with cool sneaks for men or stilettos for women. They dress up a casual outfit and dress down a nice blazer or goin' out top, just as denim is supposed to do.
According to Marshall, Levi's makes the best fit (pictured above right). Also, he says that white jeans are all about the attitude. You can't be worrying about a pen mark or a little grit from the subway, especially in a city like New York. You have to reach a certain level of acceptance that your jeans may not stay pristine. It's sort of Zen.
(I'll just carry Oxi Clean with me everywhere.)
