Men's cardigan: just right, or too Mr. Rogers?

Lately, I've noticed that the men's cardigan is making a comeback in the world of trendy outerwear -- trying to, at least. Something about it doesn't seem quite right though. I don't know whether it's memories of the dreaded preppie look or just the fact that I associate them with Mr. Rogers, but every time I see a guy wearing a cardigan I feel like he's trying a little too hard.
Some of the new styles seem to be moving away from the frumpy wool look, and those I like alright. Others, like this one from the Gap, looks like it'd be a hit with the retirement community. Do you think the cardigan is a good look for guys or did it die with Mr. R? God rest his soul.

Call me old fashioned, but I love a man in a cardie. Plus I like to steal them. Thumbs up from me on the trend.

I love them. Cardigans and sweater vests, for some reason, really really really attract me.

I vote no on this.

I'm pretty into them, even if they are a little Grampa-y. But, they can't be worn with plaid, pleated slacks -- top off a fitted polo or tee and jeans, and then give me a call. It's the preppy side of me, I guess.

This actually looks pretty hot on guys in their twenties. My husband wears a button down shirt under a sweater with the collar out and khakis. I really REALLY like it on him. It makes him LOOK like the hot school teacher that all the girls would be crushing on and it also makes me want to do naughty things to him.
