Heather Mills gets booed at Miss USA pageant

Here in America, we love us some beauty pageants, and Miss USA is no exception. The gossip, spills, and thrills make the ridiculous contest a must see for all fiends of pop culture. But apparently, Heather Mills has a different impression of why Americans tune in to watch the pageant -- to see her gold-digging celebrity face.
It's hard to imagine why she has such a high opinion of her popularity here in the States, when the New York Post is reporting that the audience "booed and hissed when Mills was announced as a judge for the show." Still, somehow she's found a way to convince herself that America loves her. Reportedly, her enormous ego prompted her to launch an all-out attack on the show's producers to fatten up her contract.
According to the Post, Heather stonewalled Miss USA, refusing to sign a contract for 3 weeks that would allow the show to be re-broadcast:
"They went back and forth rewriting and finally threatened to pull her from it altogether. She still wouldn't sign it because she wants to get paid if they resell the footage. Her ego is enormous, and it's getting bigger by the minute."Heather has been reported as saying that she wants to move to America because Britons hate her guts, and that she thinks she'll be better of in LA. We guess her inner monologue must go something like this: LA is full of so many hated public figures, that nobody will ever notice little old me! Still, if she really wants to make any friends, she needs to tone it down for a little while -- and stop whining about her puny little $50M divorce settlement.

What I don't get is why they would even want someone like Heather Mills to be a part of Miss USA. Firstly, it is Miss USA, not Miss UK - there aren't enough home grown celebrities to pick from so we have to import? Secondly, most of the public views her as a gold digging wench - not the kind of person you want associated with a pageant.

Why would the US of A want someone like Heather Mills associated with them. She is just a egomaniacal gold digger, who doesn't even merit a website.
