Decoding your skin type

Are you looking to update your skin care products or makeup now that the summer sun is starting to shine? Before you end up with a drawer full of fancy new products, make sure you know what your skin truly needs.
This article, at Divine Caroline, gives the lowdown on how to read and evaluate your skin. The type of products you use should be based on your skin type, so you need to know whether your skin is sensitive or not, as well as whether it is dry, oily, normal, or combination.
Once you've figured out what your skin needs, do a little research. Some companies are geared toward folks with sensitive skin, and many companies have developed specific lines for skin that is dry, oily, etc. If you're feeling overwhelmed and really don't know where to start, try going to a department store makeup counter or to a specialty shop (like Sephora) where someone can guide you in the right direction.

But what if your skin is dry in some areas, and oily in others?

If that's the case, you have combination skin and you'll want to find products specifically made for that skin type.

The DivineCaroline article told me something I didn't know: "Your skin is at its most balanced state when you first wake up after a full night’s sleep." Good to know!

I've never been certain what my skin type is and am anxious to test out these tips. That said, I've found that drinking A TON of water helps to clear my complexion.
