Wet Seal shows love for Mother Earth

This might be the clearest case of "green washing," we've ever seen. Wet Seal has a line of eco-fashion, that's not actually made with any organic or sustainable materials.

In case you haven't heard the term before, all knowing Wikipedia describes green washing as, "a term that is used to describe the act of misleading consumers regarding the environmental practices of a company or the environmental benefits of a product or service."

So sure, these Wet Seal t-shirts are full of great slogans -- like the one that shows a sweating planet that says, "I'm Hot." But, the fact of the matter is, they were all made with regular cotton or other materials. They're shipped using normal pollution emitting practices and their packaging is probably not recyclable either.

In short, if you buy one of these t-shirts, you're buying an idea, nothing more.

Browse through the gallery to see the "eco-accessories" and "eco-tees," that the marketing geniuses at Wet Seal are hoping you'll buy this Earth Day. Although, to their credit, buying a reusable bag is always better than plastic!
