Budget brides can buy gowns online
Filed under: Clothing, Dresses, Fashion, Best of the Season
Something we've noticed lately is the sudden prevalence of relatively inexpensive wedding dresses on the Internet. It started with Lane Bryant's now-dwindling Bridal collection of dresses and separates, all priced at around $150 initially and now on sale for about fifty bucks a pop. Then we noticed that David's Bridal has an online gown collection with dresses for all sizes priced under $250. Now Torrid has a few new wedding options for the curvy bride, all priced under $250.Sounds great, right?
Well, be careful- it's hard to tell the true colors of a garment on the internet and getting the proper shade of white for your skin tone is crucial for looking beautiful on your wedding day.
Here's a few more tips for ordering your bridal gown online:
- Note your fabrics- cost-cutting happens at the point of fabric selection, and these dresses are mostly polyester. Pretty polyester, but probably not something your daughter will want to wear after you.
- And keep in mind, synthetics don't breathe.
- Also, make sure and order by your measurements, not by your ready-to-wear size, that way it'll be closer to the size you need and you won't need as many alterations.
- And don't forget to hold off on buying accessories until you get your dress in, that way they'll be sure to match.

My mother found a fabulous wedding dress that looked perfect on her at the Goodwill for $4....yes, that's right FOUR dollars.
