Australian Fashion Week: Serdoun

No stranger to New Zeeland, Russian designer Serdoun decided it was time to make her mark on Australia. She was a part of the Ready To Wear #2 group catwalk show held at the Overseas Passenger Terminal in Sydney yesterday. She's been a player in NZ for the last several years, but feels she's ready to take on a bigger market now.

Alissa Serdoun said, that even though it might sound ambitious, "We like to compare ourselves with the top end designers."

We don't think she's quite ready for those kind of comparisons just yet, but we do see the potential.

Serdoun was all over the board with this show. On the positive side there were some very cute short dresses. The polka dots were fun without being too cutesy. We liked the color palette, pairing muted colors with bright reds and blues.

On the other hand, there were some pretty big disasters that headed down the runway. The fit of the clothes wasn't always the best. Some outfits like the shorts suit looked like a craft project/flight attendant uniform gone horribly, horribly wrong.

But, all in all, though we don't think any of this will work for the red carpet -- it is ready to wear after all. We like that the every day woman wouldn't struggle to put any of these outfits together.
