Gap Artist Design t-shirts
Filed under: Fashion, Best of the Season
Even though Gap Inc. reported an 18% decline in March sales, the company doesn't look it will be throwing in the towel anytime soon. After dropping a second successful round of classic white shirts in collaboration with the CFDA last month, Gap is now gearing up to release a slew of achingly cool t-shirts via their new Artists Edition t-shirt initiative. The brand has wrangled a bunch of contemporary artists like Chuck Close, Jeff Koons, Marilyn Minter, Kiki Smith, Cai Guo-Qiang, Barbara Kruger, Ashley Bickerton, and Kenny Scharf, just to name a few.
The cotton tees are in collaboration with Whitney Museum of American Art and the nonprofit Art Production Fund and will be available in two styles, a women's open-neck tee and a men's crewneck. Both will retail between $28 and $38 when they roll into Gap stores on May 13th.

Maybe these artists agreed to sell out because the GAP corporate collection is the reason they are still breathing today. Never ignore your patrons... :)
