Ladies, flaunt your forties

Filed under: Fashion, News, Best of the Season

Whit Honea is a slacker, a borderline degenerate, and a daydream believer. He's also our resident expert on casual chic. If it's comfortable, and not heinous, he's all over it. He's quite charming, really.

Forty is apparently a big deal for women. Men, widely accepted to become distinguished with age, don't really notice 40 or the subsequent years known has the "40 somethings." They only notice things like how suddenly there aren't any professional athletes their age or that movies they love start issuing 25th Anniversary specials. These are the signs of aging for men. However, such things are more likely to raise a forty than cause much grief.

Women, however, have had to deal with a certain stigma surrounding forty that is both untrue and unfair. They are told that 40 is old and that it is the beginning of the end. Anyone over forty, or those of us that know a person over 40, can attest that this is not the case. Forty, as they say, is the new 30. Believe it.

The women at 40 Something Shirts not only believe it, they preach it. They created the company as they entered their forties and realized that they felt great, "Gone were the insecurities and unknowns of 20 something. Gone were the challenges and questions that came along with 30 something. At 40 something, we´re happy, loving life and at peace! We know who we are and a wonderful sense of self-confidence has emerged...along with a few gray hairs and wrinkles."

If you're a woman in your forties or know one that is, then perhaps you would like to visit 40 Something Shirts. Men? The latest NBA draft featured guys born in 1989. How does that feel?
