Most of us are of the opinion that when it comes to the Olsen twins, Ashley is the one who wears the normal stuff. But, in a new issue of Elle, designers are falling all over themselves to fawn over Mary Kate!

Ashley is fashion forward and a trend starter, while Mary Kate is just way out there with her totally experimental style. If we're not mistaken, she's also the twin who also once struggled with anorexia and entered rehab to treat the disease. So why in the world would Karl Lagerfeld bring up her size when talking about MKO as a fashion icon? That just seems cruel to us -- but so goes it in the fashion world.

He said, "I love a tiny woman in Chanel. Coco herself was tiny, so you don't need to be a giant to look good in these. I like the way M.K. is mixing Chanel with other things. Life is not a fashion show, and I find a total designer look boring."

And Diane Von Furstenberg added, "Mary-Kate is fragile yet strong...She's an old soul in a very young girl. Hers is a story that has just begun."

MKO herself spoke out about her fashion sense saying, "I don't know-you're either on the worst-dressed list or you've started a fashion trend. I think there's a real disconnect between the media's perception of fashion and the fashion world's idea of fashion. I don't know why I wear some of the things I wear. I like wearing crazy things sometimes. I like being playful. Sometimes I feel like I'm playing dress-up and becoming a character. It's sort of like an art. It can change your mood or the way that people are attracted to you."

We caught her! She admits she wears totally crazy things and plays dress up all the time! We love her anyways. Who wants another clone straight out of the Hollywood cookie cutter fashion mold? Give us MKO and her eccentricities any day -- we wouldn't want our Olsens any other way.
