Model Mia Tyler saved from suicide by a last minute booking

The utterly beautiful Mia Tyler, once nearly committed suicide because of self-esteem issues. In her memoir that just came out she says she had problems with her body image, drugs and self mutilation.Steve Tyler's eldest daughter says that she was sitting on the edge of the balcony in a Hollywood Hills estate, considering throwing herself off the ledge, "I was going to kill myself...One thing I knew for sure: If I jumped, no one would find me at the bottom of the canyon. I sat down and let my legs dangle over the edge. I puffed on a joint ... I wondered if it was going to hurt. If it did, it wouldn't matter for more than an instant, right?"
One second later her phone beeped with a text message. It was MTV saying they wanted to book her as a VJ. That gave her hope.
It's a sad sad world when a woman feels she needs to consider killing herself in part because she doesn't feel good about her body. Thankfully Mia went on to get help and become a super successful plus sized model.

Suicide is something that doesn't get talked about...thank you Mia for sharing your story about your near-suicide. Hopefully this will help someone through a difficult time. I urge everyone who is hurting and contemplating such a permanent action to talk to someone, anyone.

Well said, Sharon. I've been in a wheelchair for 23 years, and have contemplated suicide myself many times. I'm past all that now, and though I hate to admit it, getting away from drugs for a good long time is really what cleared my head out.
Mia, I think you're absolutely beautiful and the world would be just a little darker without your smile in it.

Hey in response to anyone who is considering suicide. I am a survivor of someone who tried last month. Thankfully he did not succeed but what a aweful time we have had since. Suicide is a act that is made in a instance and the only one it really hurts are the survivors. Please anyone making that choice or thinking about that choice... GET HELP NOW!!! Your friends and family do love you !!!!!!! Nothing can be worse than losing someone you really love.

Let me tell you something...being overweight is nothing compared to being an ignorant BIGOT. I was one of the shortest kids in my class in grade school. Let me tell you how your words carry through your life when all you can make are cruel thoughtless comments...it's okay to be overweight, it's NOT okay to judge others based on your short sighted views of others. Mia Tyler IS beautiful and so is her sister Liv. Comments like yours are what send some people over the edge and give them low self esteem, but I'm sure that's never crossed your mind.

i agree with AP & iamme003. Mia is beautiful. I really don't think that she is fat either. maybe a little pudgy but definitely not fat. People that make comments like the one "fatty" just made are the reasons that people have such low self esteem.

I am so sick of people saying how horrible it is when overweight people have a sense of self-worth because it sends out a message that it is okay to be overweight. The two don't have anything to do with each other!! The self-worth comes from factors OTHER than weight. Why can't a plus size woman love herself for who she is? She isn't saying, "I'm beautiful BECAUSE I'm overweight," she's saying, "I may be overweight, but I'm still beautiful and I have a lot to contribute to the world." Why is that so horrible? Also, I am astonished as to what constitutes being "fat" these days. According to today's standards, someone curvy like Marilyn Monroe would be called fatty by some of the hateful idiots who comment on these things.

I am a size 6, and I think Mia is a very healthy and gorgeous woman. I cant see one thing wrong with her size or shape. Wake up America !! This is the new average sized woman !! Lets stop doing ourselves an injustice by draping clothes on a stick calling it sexy....We are women !! We can change the unhealthy ideals of what sexy is..

Typical responses from fatasses, only in America. A little meat is fine, but prime beef is going overboard. Fatasses need to just stick with fatasses. Obesity in women is a huge problem today. It leads to self esteem issues, health problems...look at diabetics...most are fatasses. BTW Marilyin Monroe had a super figure. She wasn't some obese lazy bitch. She cared very much about her appearance. You fat bastards should never compare yourself to Marilyn Monroe. This woman is not plus sized. she's obese.
