To hose or not to hose, that is the question
Filed under: Accessories, Fashion
Last year, Gossip Girl star Blake Lively began to emerge as a fashion darling with the help of Valentino handbags (courtesy of Stylist Patricia Field) and Conde Nast covers. Soon after, she started being courted by some today's most highly regard designers. In fact, she got the seal of approval by Karl Lagerfeld -- whom has outfitted her for several public appearances.
Being the gracious recipient of free luxury goods that Blake Lively is, she attended Karl's Chanel Haute couture show back in January wearing the designer, of course, but more curiously: pantyhose.
We gasped! Why would a girl with blue vein-free legs be wearing pantyhose when our favorite editor-in-chief, Carine Roitfeld of French Vogue, proudly shows off her sexy fifty-something legs every chance she gets. Did she accidentally drink the dirty Parisian water or are her handlers completely blind? These were the thoughts rambling in our brains. And it seems we weren't the only ones bothered by these hoes:
In this clip from the Wall Street Journal, writer Lauren Goode debates the merits of wearing pantyhose in the work place as temperatures continue to rise.
And we want to ask you: Are pantyhose appropriate outerwear in the summer?

Panty hose are NEVER appropriate - not even in the winter. Brave it with bare legs or wear opaque tights, but panty hose are just wrong!

I don't know, I hate them. But, I have worked in offices (health care) where it is mandatory with skirts. So, if you want to wear a dress in the summer you have to wear them. I prefer, no matter how white my legs, not to wear them. Sometimes there is not a choice.

Bare legs are great in the summer or with flip flops, but women look much better with hose on. It hides veins, spots and really white legs. It looks much more professional at work.
