Men at work...in shorts

Who wears short shorts? Your boss?!?
The New York Times is all a-flutter over the trend of men wearing dress shorts to work. Really? That's a trend? Click here. Debatably hot, but for formal work? Would you trust your trust fund to those calves?
The trend regrettably reminds us of those weird boys in school who wore shorts all year round for no apparent reason. Obviously, the men in the photos look more stylish, but we think part of them still may be on their way to Chess Club.
If you're going to rock this trend in a professional environment, our advice is:
1. Avoid cargo pockets, they look casual.
2. Stick to solid colors.
3. If you put your hands down at your sides and they go farther than your shorts, they're too short by a landslide.
4. No socks. Or at least those athletic socks that you can't really see in the shoe.
5. Avoid the muffin top, men, careful with those belts.
6. Check with your boss first, and god bless.
Some nice khaki shorts are a good start, and they're on sale at BananaRepublic.com for under $28! But try to remember why they're on sale: nobody's sure about this shorts-at-work thing.

Most men look horrible in shorts. Will they shave their legs and wear pantyhose under them? I doubt it. I am no more interested in seeing their hairy legs than in seeing a womans hairy legs. If they work outside in the sun ok, in an office, no way!

Susie, you're being sexist. So what's wrong with us men wearing short shorts and shaving our legs and wearing pantyhose with them? Of course we will! I do!! You women think it's okay to wear MEN'S clothes all the time. Women are just threatened when we men have sexier legs than they do.

They wear 'em all the time for business in Bermuda.....WITH knee socks and dress shoes, shirt, tie, and sport coat. Once you get used to seeing it, it looks cool....

I was stuck working with a guy who ran around in shorts and it was horrible. Found myself inspecting his feet once too often, lol. YUCK!!!

this is a horrible look. especially the gray shorts and especially with jackets. Yeah, they do it in Bermuda cause it's friggin hot and it's okay to wear bermuda's in bermuda. these are way too short. I know men need to stay cool, but whoever created this look for the workplace lost their friggin mind.

Vanessa, like nearly all women, has lost HER friggin' mind if she doesn't like short shorts on men. What's wrong with short shorts on men? Just because short shorts are "supposed" to be only for women? Women demand equal rights with men but then turn around and don't want us men to have equal rights with them. If a woman can wear men's clothes, which they do, then we men can wear women's clothes.

I have nice legs because I'm in the gym 6 days a week. That said if a co-worker wants to see me in shorts they're gonna have to do some of my work!

Bermuda shorts come and go but a nice, casual yet tasteful jockstrap never goes out of style. The tie's a nice touch, Dante!
