Cartier sues DKNY

Next to the epic designer sales, summer has been all about luxury companies suing each other left and right. Ebay got slammed by Louis Vuitton, but bounced back with a breezy win over uber lush jewelry company, Tiffany & Co.

And just before we all say good-bye to our summer crushes and bid adeui to our awesome internships, Cartier has set its lawyers loose on DKNY for making a watch that's looks eerily similar like one of Cartier's swanky timepieces.

DKNY, why copy?

LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA, who owns Donna Karen's brands, is being sued by Cartier for trademark infridgment for selling a line of watches named "Tank," making customers believe they are made by the French jeweler who makes a line of popular timepieces under the exact same name. Cartier began making the watches in 1917, and Donna Karen begin co-opting the name in 2001.

So yeah, this isn't going to be a hard case for Cartier to win. Donna, now you know how Forever 21 feels.
