L'Oreal denies Beyonce skin lightening

Recent L'Oreal ads in Elle, Allure, and Essence feature the always fabulous Beyonce, but the ad is garnering a lot of complaints. Why would anybody complain about Beyonce in an ad? She's a knockout, right? Yes, except her skin looks several shades lighter than it normally does.
The ads for Feria haircolor are, as you might expect, creating a lot of controversy. L'Oreal denies any lightening of the singer's skin, saying, "We highly value our relationship with Ms. Knowles. It is categorically untrue that L'Oreal Paris altered Ms. Knowles' features or skin tone ..."
An investigation by Elle's publisher is underway. We think lightening Beyonce's skin would be a really strange move to make -- she's worked with L'Oreal since 2001 without incident, so why now? I think all the controversy is kind of silly - her skin looks a little bit different in every picture. I think the shot is just overexposed.

It's all about the lighting, what color she has her hair and how much/what kind of makeup they put on her. Any glittery or mineral-ish powder will pick up light. All those "face brighteners" do the same thing.

Beyonce has always had a beautiful complexion, so the whole skin tone issue is one that could have been avoided by L'Oreal, especially since she has been a long time model for their products.

I think it is the lighting as well. Beyonce still looks as stunning as ever.

I look whiter too if I dye my hair a lighter color than my natural hair, as well as if the photographer uses strong lightening. Her eyes look lighter too, so it's definitely the light exposer was too high and long.
I think people need to lay off the whole skin hysteria. This obsession over skin tone or color is getting ridiculous. Too light or too dark, does it really matter? I wish people loosen up and stop worrying so. If you let a little ad bother you I can't imagine how you would react to someones' comment about the way you look. Stop taking things so personal and move on.
We should really be focusing on how the government is taking more power for itself and less power given to the people.
